After lurking here for awhile, I decided to take the plunge and write my first post!

I'm Amy and my husband, Dave and I are coming to TV for our LSV from Sept. 22-29th. We have two friends who recently bought homes here. We visited for a few days in March and loved it! We are homeless right now, so we can definitely buy. We sold our home in PA in June, and live in our RV right now. I just retired from teaching and Dave is able to work from home. We would like to travel around the country while we can, but would stay in TV for the winter at first, and eventually be there full-time when we no longer enjoy or can handle the RV lifestyle.

My only concern right now is leaving my aging parents who have some health problems, and also our son, who is in his 20's and has a lot of challenges.

I have read a bunch of friendly and helpful posts with great advice so far, and look forward to interacting more.

Hi Amy. Welcome to Talk of the Villages (TOTV). I hope you enjoy your LSV. Best wishes in making the tough decisions regarding your parents and son. I look forward to seeing you around the forum.

Welcome to TOTV and we know you will love your LSV. We too left an 'aging' parent in PA and daily phone calls and trips back to PA every two months has been working for us for the last 9 months! Good luck and everything will work out!!

Welcome to TOTV. This is a great source for information. We did a lot of research on the internet but mostly on here asking questions before our LSV.

Basically felt as if we were going to buy before we got here. Bought within 2-3 days.

Enjoy your LSV, speak to everyone, visit the squares, ride around everywhere, and mostly - HAVE FUN!

FYI - No WIFI in your LSV Villa - they want you to mingle. However you can go to Starbucks, Library, Panera and get a connection.

Definitely ask questions here.

OH - AND BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK !!!!

ENJOY !

Good to meet you or at least your TOTV personality. Seems to be a lot of retired teachers here in the Villages. There are three just on my block alone and probably another five or so that go to the Doggie Doo Run Run on a regular basis.

Welcome! I am interested to know how you like living in an RV as my wife and I are planning on the same thing for our first few summers in retirement. Still got a ways to go before we retire. Are you planning on buying a home in TV and then driving around during the summers? Or are you planning on RVing in TV area during the winter months?

Kbace, we have had an RV for 5 years now, up till June we just used it for vacations in the summer. Since the middle of June, when we sold our house, we are living in it full-time. We have stayed close to my parents and son for the first month, then headed up to Maine for a month. On Thursday we leave for Michigan. We really love it...very stress-free...we don't miss the big home and yard that required so much work! But, we are thinking we would like to have home base, as well, and TV look like a fantastic place to be! We are thinking of buying and staying there when we aren't traveling. We would put our RV in storage close by.
