So who controls the bank now? I had always understood it was the Morse family in some form anyway. Could this just be an internal sale from one Morse trust or subsidiary to another?

You're so right! I say "big deal!!!" If folks don't like it there are certainly other banks to take your business to. IMHO

Just like all the other divested entities that were bought by family, friends or insider of one type or another.
I know several of them but, I just wish I were one!!!

Kind of nice to see the Morse family buying something instead of selling. (No sarcasm meant or intended.) It seems that they've been selling a lot of their holdings the past few years -- Empty Nest, Daily Sun, etc. This had me concerned that they were planning on leaving TV in the not-so-distant future. So, to see that they are returning Citizens First back into their fold so to speak says "good" to me.

I've never been worried they'd bail on this community! That said...what was The Empty Nest?

What makes you think that they do not own the Daily Sun? It is important that Villagers understand that the Daily Sun is owned and operated by the Developer, with no editorial independence. I had assumed that everybody knew this. See http://www.sunbiz.org/scripts/ficidet.exe?action=DETREG&docnum=G09000123964&rdocnum=G09000123964

so, the family owns a bank. i think that i knew that already. it is obvious that they are very astute businesspeople who have had amazing successes for them selves and their families. and it also appears that they all work very hard. no 'phoning it in'...they are 'hands on'.

Citizens First Bank announces closure of lobby at Avenida Central branch
http://www.**************.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Avenida-Central.jpg
Citizens First Bank has announced it is closing the lobby at its Avenida Central location effective Oct. 25.
The branch is located at 903 Avenida Central, near the Winn-Dixie supermarket.
The drive-in will remain open, according to Citizens First Bank.
In a letter to customers, Citizens First Bank suggests customers shift their activity to the Spanish Springs Main Street location (which is a half mile from the Avenida Central branch) or to the Spanish Plaines location (which is one and a half miles from the Avenida Central branch).
The bank is also suggesting that customers shift some of their activity to the Pinellas branch down in the newest section of The Villages. The Pinellas branch, still under construction, is scheduled to open this fall.

is it frequently not more difficult to find a parking spot near the spanish springs location? can one get to the spanish plaines shopping center in a golf cart?

The Spanish Springs Main Street location has a huge parking lot in back of it so parking for cars or carts is never a problem.
I have found Citizens First to be the friendliest bank I have ever dealt with in all my banking transactions.
