I am wondering how many of you workout at your home vs using the gym or other activities? Also how busy do the gyms get?

I have an exercise bike and am debating if I would need it (when) I move from MD to the Villages.

I use my Concept II rowing machine at home along wit a NordicTrack ski machine once in a while. If I had to go to a gym I'd never get around to it.

We have a portable vibration machine. It is a ten minute work-out. My husband doesn't have any cramps in his legs at all. He used to have cramps all night when he played eighteen holes of golf. Not any more.

I feel fantastic since I have been doing this. I really didn't have any issues but this machine is great for circulation.

We have been using this machine for two months.

This is interesting to me ... I had never heard of PVMs before your post. Gotta love TOTV! I just googled Portable Vibration Machines, and read some reviews, and there are a lot of different styles. What kind did you buy?

There are many great 'apps' that can be downloaded with all types of home workout routines. Most done with just hand-weights or exercise ball or foam rollers etc. I use 'workout trainer' on my Kindle Fire HD.

I workout for two hours 3 mornings each week. I use two 20 pound hand weights, a 10 pound medicine ball and 35 pound resistance bands. I just find it easier to have the time when I workout at home rather than commute to a gym.

Ok for some reason I imagined the gyms to be right around the corner from everyone since it sounded like there are a lot of recreational facilities.

Are gym facilities included with the rec fees? And how busy do they get?

We have a treadmill and work out every day. I can stay in my pj's with no makeup and don't have to worry about doing my hair. Much more retirement-friendly than going to the gym.

We bought our "Whole Body Vibration" machine at...
..................... Village Vibrations
......................4125 County Road 106
......................Oxford, FL 34484

They are Across from Wal-Mart on CR 466
Next door to Bargains and Treasures.
CR 106 is behind the gas station that is across from the CR 466 Walmart.

We got the unit that is called "The Pro".

Village Vibrations had given us a 5 session usage free trial.
After our second "free" session...we talked to an M.D
and were convinced the units are good for our health.
We decided to purchase a unit from Village Vibrations.

They also offer a membership for about $60/mo if you want to go to studio.
Their membership is "no contract necessary".....and...
......................includes the usage of their "far infrared saunas."

We decided that if we had the vibration machine...
...... IN our home........... we would use it for sure.
My next project.....
......an at home "far infrared sauna".

I use the vibration machine every OTHER day.
My lovely lady has fallen into a DAILY routine......
...5 minutes on the machine...then Swim for 1/2 hour...
....then 10 minutes on the machine....then Shower.....
.....then she wakes me up so I can fix breakfast for her.

Many Chiropractic offices and Doctors' Offices now utilize these machines.
Also, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities are getting them.

Thank you for all the information you provided. Very interesting. I know exactly where CR 106 is located. Do I understand you correctly that Village Vibrations has a studio at that location, and for $60 for a month, you can try out the concept before purchasing?

...absolutely... they have a Studio at that location. In a stand-alone building
just East of the Bargains and Treasures building.

I believe they told us $60./ mo ( maybe it was $55 ?) for no contract membership.
After talking with the Doctor...I was convinced purchasing a unit was right for me.
Just figured that when the unit is IN the home , I have no excuse to not use it.)
She uses it in EARLY morning and I use it about 9 at night. Works for us.

I think their number is ....352..748..0122.

They are called "Village Vibrations Health Studio".
They were a GOGA Studios franchisee.....but.....
.....Goga Studios sold out to ZAAZ Studios (in Jan 2013 ?)
ZAAZ Studios did not want to honor any franchise agreements ...
...so...this studio went Independent.

I believe they still offer the 3 or 5 session trial..for low or no cost.
...(and they are very nice people.)

The "younger person" feeling we have after just 10 weeks of
having a unit at home is wonderful.

My legs no longer hurt after a long hard day of Villages activities.
I can also walk a long ways with no pain. :MOJE_whot:

My lovely lady did not think she would even use the unit....
......................but now she is a true believer.....
....................she says we should have purchased one long ago.
Go figure, I was the one who had to convince her that we should buy one.

Gym's are not included. To read about fees go to this web site

Thanks again for the info. I'll definitely visit them when we return to TV in the Fall.

I have an exercise bike and am debating if I would need it (when) I move from MD to the Villages.

trying to get into the rec center gym facilities during 'the season' when snowbirds have returned to their villages nests can be next to impossible - based on the complaints that have been posted on totv in the past.

we have an exercise bike - but i prefer to walk and/or ride my bike. love the fresh air and i never know who i might meet along the way! and a rainy day is a great excuse to go walking - thru beall's, southern lifestyles, belk's, target, kohl's instead of outside! ;)
