We will be coming for our village lifestyle preview plan in about two weeks and we will probably look at houses. My question is which neighborhoods are close to food shopping and rec centers (with the big pools)? Also when riding bikes on the paths do you follow traffic or ride facing traffic? Also are there places to park near the town squares so as to not deal with all the traffic in the town squares? I don't drive a car and the only motorized thing I have driven is a moped. Thanks in advance for your help. Maureen

Hi Maureen,
Welcome. Here is a map that shows the rec. centers (http://www.thevillages.com/Recreation/recmappop-lg.asp). The larger red squares are the regional rec centers with the large pools. Of these regional rec. centers, the ones that are also close to food shopping are (south to north) Colony Cottage, Laural Manor, La Hacienda, Paradise (historic area), and Mulberry Grove. Someone please correct me if I've left out a newer one???

That said, most of the villages (neighborhoods) are not that far from a regional recreation center.

Ride a bicycle with the flow of traffic on the cart paths, just as you would on the streets.

Parking near the town squares: There are parking lots nearby each of the squares, also street parking, so you don't have to drive all the way into and around the square. Mopeds and golf carts are excellent choices parking near the squares!

If you do look at houses, be sure to tell your sales rep. of your preference for proximity near grocery shopping and sports pools. He or she can help you narrow your choice of neighborhoods.

Please write during/after your LSV and let us know what you think. Have a great time!

Hi Maureen, all of those questions can be answered when you meet your LSV person. All the places are close to rec centers, the're everywhere. The cart paths go with the flow. Yu won't have any problem. The only stereo will be trying to figure out how to get to the villages faster than you anticipated.
