May need hip replacement and would like some recommendations for a doctor.

Dr. Duke did my husband's hip replacement on May 9 this year - we think he did a superb job. My husband is completely healed and is back to golfing, pickleball, table tennis and biking. One thing I have to add, and bear in mind our case may be completely different from others. My husband saw Dr. Duke once prior to surgery, I spoke to him after surgery, and we never ever saw him again. My husband's appointments were all with his assistant.

One other thing to keep in mind. You are given exercises which strengthen the muscles and prepare the hip for surgery - he did these four or five times a day for a couple of months prior to surgery. Then following surgery he had rehab at home and was again given exercises which he did several times a day.

It has made an incredible difference to him, he has no pain and holds himself much more erect now, it really has taken years off him.

I would recommend Dr. John Williams at Tri County Orthopedics. Thought I needed a hip replacement but after consultation and tests, Dr. Williams discovered another issue that was causing my problems. Could have replaced my hip as it was borderline but he was honest enough to refer me elsewhere for treatment and now I am pain free. Will probably eventually need the replacement and will definitely go back to him to do it but am grateful for not having surgery I did not need at the present time.

Another one for Tri-County Orthopaedics. They are all really good. I've been to 2 of the Dr. plus had my physical therapy with them. They have an office in Leesburg and one on 466 in Lady Lake.

Go to the best....dr. Duke in Ocala. Graduated univ. of Florida med school, did his internship, residency, and fellowship there (and they have an excellent orthopedics department), and has done over 3000 joint replacements.
