Does anyone have any information about an accident at Buena Vista and 466A this morning? My 4 YO grandson was a passenger in one of the vehicles and I'm just trying to find out what happened.

His uncle, the driver, has a broken wrist, broken foot and a cracked rib. His girl friend is on a heart monitor at least overnight. They were taken to Ocala. My grandson and another little boy were air evacced to Arnold Palmer in Orlando. Both boys are fine, just being kept overnight for observation.

I'm hoping the driver and any passengers of the other vehicle are okay. No one seemed to know. So, if anyone knows anything, please let me know. Thank you.

I'd heard the accident was on 466 and the 2 med-vacs were in the polo-field. I was told by an observer at the softball fields. So two accidents?? Or was it this one?

I'm soooo sorry to hear about your family and of course the others involved! Keep us updated!

I honestly don't know. I thought my daughter said 466A and BV, but it could have been closer to 466 (which actually makes more sense). I doubt either of us were really that coherent even with a happy, healthy little boy lying in the hospital bed. (His only complaint was that he was bored.)

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll let y'all know what I know when I have more facts.

It was 466 and Buena Vista. I was on my way to my volunteer work at 9:30 this morning and I turn from Buena Vista onto 466 - there was a big traffic tie-up at that corner. I did not see either car but saw lots of broken glass, police, and a firetruck. Obvioulsly, one of the vehicles ran the stoplight.

There was also an accident at Buena Vista and 466A at about 215 pm today, I swathe police but was driving by going the opposite way. I do not have any details.

Still no details. Aaron was with his babysitter (the brother's girl friend; Jess was on her way to work). Sadly, injuries were more severe to the adults than first thought. The woman almost had her foot severed and will undergo surgery tomorrow. Prayers that she will get through this and not lose her foot.

Thank goodness for car seats! I do believe they saved both boys from serious injury. The only injury to either boy was a slight bruise to my grandson's cheek (unless something comes up overnight, which is highly unlikely).

Finally found some info: Four injured in accident Monday morning at Buena Vista, 466 - ************** (http://www.**************.com/four-injured-in-accident-this-morning-at-buena-vista-cr-466/)

At least we now know no one in the truck was injured. Four people is enough.

I'm so glad that the babies are OK. Prayers that tomorrow's surgery goes well.

I'm up late too - couldn't sleep. Just read the posts...... life can change in just an instant. What a scare for you and your daughter. I'm glad you could see and touch him and know he was basically OK. He'll probably not remember all this......but you two will never forget it. Have a Cole Classic (with a little something extra) and know your TOTV friends will keep you, your grandson and daughter and the others in our prayers.

There is a moral to this story.

Any time you are at a red light, especially in one of the big intersections please do this; when the light turns green count to five, look left, then right then go forward. If someone behind you honks, don't worry about it. It's better to be a little annoying than be T-boned by another vehicle and injured or killed.

I speak from experience.

Thank you, delima. The picture says it all. It's a miracle there weren't more injuries. I started shaking just looking at it.

Terrifying. I'm glad it wasn't more serious. Those are phone calls no one wants to make or receive.

The mistake we all seem to make is that we simply believe that since we have the right away that we are absolved of any responsibilities. The fact remains that a driver is still required to maintain a proper look out by observing both the situation to his/her left and right has they move forward through an intersection.

Oh, let's not turn this into a lecture series. The driver of the truck was at fault, period. Thank God the four in the van were not hurt worse. They have my prayers for a full recovery, Redwitch.

Thank you all so much. I'm discovering that today is much worse for my peace of mind than yesterday. Guess I was too busy yesterday to figure out just how serious this could have been. Today, I can't quit shaking.

Still haven't heard anything about the surgery. I'm praying all goes well for Sandy. That lady has it rough enough as it is.

It must be a normal response as I too am slow in how my reactions will come about after an event. It's like my brain needs to process it before I feel the emotions of it. So take deep breathes...it does help!! This could have (emphasis on the "could") been bad but the miracle of it is---it wasn't (bad as it could have been)! This is a huge "PRAISE"!!!!!

I remember, many moons ago, my driving instructor said to look left, then right, and check back left, before you proceed. It's saved me a couple of times.

I think the local police could write loads of ticket at these big intersections.

Well, it turns out both adults had to have surgery on their foot. While I don't have details, it seems the surgery was successful for both. Now comes the rehab. I don't know what these people are going to do -- none of them have jobs that will pay them while they're not working. My daughter, a server, is taking the week off to find a new babysitter. The other two adults will be off for several weeks with rehab, etc. What a royal, stinking mess for all of them. Hope the driver of the vehicle that hit them has good insurance -- these kids are all going to need it.

The paper reported one vehicle made and illegal LEFT TURN and the photo shows the van with extensive damage to the right side.

Most likely the illegal left found himself in the wrong lane and tried turning with the left turning traffic.

Don't know why the oncoming van did not see this in the works but looks to have tried to avoid with a hard left.

Big reminder for all of us...approach through intersection as if there was a FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT!

I'm sorry to hear of this accident and that your loved ones were involved. The best news is,the kids are ok. Lets all hope for a speedy recovery for everyone else. You will be in our thoughts.

I have posted this once before but I think now is a good time to post again. Back some months ago, hubby and I were on our way to Continental golf course for our lessons. We were out by Brownwood where it intersects with CR 44 (I believe). I was driving and the light was red at the intersection. When the light turned green, I didn't go right away as I always look L and R before proceeding through the lights. As I looked left, I saw this white car coming particularly fast toward their now red light. I asked my husband if the car was going to stop? As we waited a bit more it was clear that the car had no idea their light was red. The car traveled at approx. 55 MPH straight thought the light, not breaking at all. It had to be 3 seconds that their light had been red prior to them approaching. All the other traffic on their side had been stopped. She passed all of the traffic and ran the light. If I had gone when my light turned green we would have been broadsided at 55MPH. We probably wouldn't be here now. Please, everyone look both ways before going through a green light and be extra careful at stop signs. It's an every man for themselves world out there.....be safe.
