I have developed a crack in my driveway. It has different sections , so it is confined to one particular slab. Can this be fixed ?? Any recommendations ?

Call warranty. On our street (3 years old)they sent someone to look at it and fixed for free. Always call home warranty dept first. Nothing to lose.

There are vinyl concrete repair kits made by Kosmos sold at Lowes etc. It will fill the crack but it will always be seen and likely it will crack too if there is still any expansion or movement.
Would likely have to replace at least the section with the crack to do it right. Depends on the age whether it will ever match the rest. Lots of concrete work does develop small cracks and is never a problem unless the edges are too uneven or the appearance is too much to live with. Luckily no freezing or thawing here to cause the concrete to heave if water gets through the crack.

Shift in the ground. Start of sinkhole?????????

Very unlikely unless there is a major crack or shifting...

Do you have a large tree that might be uprooting it? happens all the time. I'd say it won't cost an arm and a leg to have that section ripped out and replaced.

I believe there's a 10 year warranty on concrete.

Are you sure ? --I was told there is no warranty on concrete ..I had a crack in a villa in the rear yard. The day of closing the builder came over and said there was no warranty on concrete unless it was large enough to fit a quarter in it .

I let it go then but will address it on the 1 year warranty inspection in December

The only warranty on concrete is....................it will crack.
Ever wonder why those lines are cut in the concrete? Thats to control the cracking.

Unless they have changed things over the years, the driveway is a single poured slab and they use a concrete saw to carve creases in the driveways to give them a sectioned look. They are not separate sections. Go out an look at your driveway and you will not see any barrier separations between the slabs.

When they were building the houses in Springdale, me and Bart (the dog) used to watch them do the cutting.
