Since many of the people who come to this forum are newly transplanted from other parts of the county, we are not familiar with the important issues that affect us To any of the candidates for office, what are two or three of the important issues that we should be aware of?

Very Good question.

1) Property Rights. Because we have so many gated communities, some operated by developers, this is an issue that we should all be focused on. Not just the do's and dont's, but what does a community do when the developer packs up and moves on.

2) Property Insurance/Taxes. We are in reform, but it must improve to say the least.

3) Education. Florida ranks 48th in the country.

4) Assisted living. 4.5 Million in this country have Alzheimers, by 2030 there will be 40 million. Where will we go so that the burden is not placed on our families?

5) Illegal Aliens. We employ many in this state.

Education should be number 1.
We do not want to hand down the problems to our survivors.

Property rights. Does anyone know the past history of what has happened with CDD's when the "developer moves on"? Who manages the community and what do the property owners have to pay for with regard to the intrastructure. Will there be unplesant unexpected surprises? :dontknow:

What is CDDs?

I think that I read about this situation a few years ago. What if they sell it to a foreign developer was the topic.
