well it appears that our Stand Your Ground Poster Boy is in trouble again with the law ... domestic abuse is not the correct path he should be taking! The ex wife should be happy that she did not get the jump on him. If she did Georgie would have the right to claim his life was in danger before he shot her.

Only two months since he was acquitted, and he's already been pulled over for speeding twice and now this call about domestic abuse. It's surprising that his attorney is still taking his calls.
Deja Vu - Zimmerman said he was the victim. Police arrived with guns drawn.

I am not convinced that she was telling the truth. It was just announced that "after talking to her attorney" she recanted her story and refused to press charges. Divorce and money can lead to fibs and exaggerations in order to get what you want. He would have to be insane to have done what she originally claimed, so I will wait for a full investigation. The police are talking to other witnesses and looking at the home security video tape so I would not jump to conclusions yet. She has been nailed for purgery/lying before.

Yes, Georgie Zimmerman is a killer! There is no doubt he killed Trayvon Martin. That was NOT the issue of his trial!
Zimmie's wife, Shellie, called the cops on Zimmie saying he threatened her and her dad with a gun.

Shelley recanted and agreed not to press charges as soon as they said they were going to check the security footage and talked to her attorney's. And the word "killer" is too strong of a word for someone acquitted of murder. And the term "trailer trash" is ugly. I had to live in a trailer for months after Hurricane Andrew in Miami and after Katrina in New Orleans. I would greatly appreciate you respecting the feelings of people who have or must continue to live in trailers, as they are not all "trash".

Good to see someone taking an objective stance on this matter. Cannot say I like George Zimmerman at all and still believe he should never have gotten out of the car in the Trayvon Martin matter but let's wait until the evidence is out there. Lawyers on both sides twist things in their side's favor. That's our adversarial justice system at work.
I do not see him being insane though if he did what she claims. He is a hero to some people and he probably now has a huge chip on his shoulder. It sounds like he has become incredibly arrogant thinking he can get away with almost anything as he did shoot and kill an innocent man who was also defending himself from a man with a gun.

The reality is that Zimmerman is a killer. He was found not guilty of murder by reason of self defense (the stand your ground law was never a factor in his trial). Regardless, he killed another human. That fact will never change and it would be nice if both sides would get their facts straight.
As to these allegations by his wife, they are just that -- allegations. Doesn't mean they didn't happen; just means that for whatever reason, the allegations were retracted. It also means that they may well have not happened or been grossly exaggerated. It is entirely possible we'll never know. Police have a tendency to not investigate once something has been denied and retracted -- they have enough on their plate without worrying about the he said/she said stuff.
Personally, I'm tired of hearing about him. I don't care that he's gotten pulled over for speeding. I don't care that he's getting a divorce. I don't care if he's living in a mansion or a trailer or is homeless. I'd care if he was hired as a police officer or killed another person. I'd care if he was killed. Otherwise, I wish the media would stop with all the non-news about him. There are much bigger and more important issues out there.

I am not going to judge Zimmerman that was already accomplished by a jury of his peers. I am going to make an observation that because of societies cruel and unusual pronouncements, etc of Zimmerman guilt irrespective of the trial Zimmerman and his family are at their breaking point. How do you suppose you would react if the media made fodder of you and your family 24/7? I mean how much longer are they going to feast on this guy's bones?

I agree with btk concerning the remarks about people who decide to live in trailers. the nature and orgins of such remarks is why men will never be able to co-exist in peace. its why we have wars, It is why we have discrimination and it is why we have those who consider themselves to be "the elite" The Ï am better than you syndrome" has always and will always exist within human beings

Excellent post. Maybe things won't get so inflammatory when the media quits sensationalizing and goes back to actual, factual reporting. Unfortunately, it's all about the almighty dollar.
People have had messy divorces forever. People have been rightly and wrongly convicted/acquitted forever. These things will continue to go on. Opinions will continue to go on. At least, we still have a great country for all of it. Until the media has another something to sensationalize, this will continue to be "news". Any one of us can always change the channel, put down the newspaper, read a book, take a walk, or whatever. We do have choices.

If you disagree with the current legal system, please lobby for changes, but right now it is the best thing we have. George Zimmerman was looking for a fight the night that Trayvon Martin was shot. No one except Zimmerman is alive who truly knows how that incident went down. Very horrific and totally avoidable if he had done AS THE POLICE ASKED and stayed in his car.
I feel that what we are seeing now, is the true Zimmerman. He is an adolescent mind trapped in an adult body, feeling powerful that he got away with killing that teen, and that the law does not apply to him. Several speeding stops in multiple states, threatening his wife. Seriously were any of you actually surprised??
Zimmerman is in the same "not guilty" class as Casey Anthony and OJ. He is just not smart enough to live a low profile life, we will hear more, and none of it will be good.
He will never be citizen of the year. He is certainly not a poster child for the "stand your ground" law or the right to bear arms. He has made a mockery out of both.
I am just thankful that none of our grandchildren were taking that sidewalk in the rain on their way home that day. And I pray that he can find the self control and self esteem to stop bullying and breaking the law on a regular basis. I truly thought the gravity of the killing would have brought him to his senses, But it has only served to empower him. Very sad and very frightening.

They told him they were going to beat him up. The two men got in a couple of drunk punches on the youth. The youth pulled his legal pistol and shot them dead. No witnesses.
How long would it take for that youth to arrested in Sumter County? Would the trial outcome be the same as for Zimmerman?

In an email today, the police chief of George Zimmerman's town said that Zimmerman is another "Sandy Hook" waiting to happen.
Unfortunately, there's nothing anybody can do about it. If Zimmerman were ever convicted of a felony, he would lose his right to carry a gun in Florida, but he could probably find another state that does not have that restriction.

If all of you didn't know this, then you should not be commenting on their "trailer trash" status as some have rudely described them as..WOW
Thank you for your intelligent response.
People shouldn't jump to conclusions about why someone lives in a nice home and from whence their money comes .
Good post.

Apparently what Georgie boy "works" at currently is living big off donations to his "defense fund" .... while stiffing his lawyer's bill ... you know, what money to a "defense fund" is suppose to pay. His FIL's house might not be trash ... but Georgie is.

Thank you so much...I also agree that too many people come to conclusions about people without having the real information. People are publicly judging these individuals without knowing much of anything about them. And the "trailer trash" comments are obscene and rude. Myself and many of my friends and family have had to live in trailers after hurricanes for extended periods of time, and in this economy many families have no other choice. Respect for those not as fortunate as you should always be shown.

"George was a investigator for a mortgage forclosure investigation/fraud company."
Well, why has he not gone back to work since being proclaimed Not Guilty? If the majority of Americans respect the judicial outcome of his trial, he should have no problem in working.
BTW, "trailer trash" does not mean residents of trailers are trash. It speaks to the lifestyle and not the abode. Look it up in the urban dictionary if you have doubts.

I think the answer is obvious...he is deathly afraid of death and dying by the hands of those who still think he is a murderer. I doubt he will ever be able to work out in public.

Dang, he should have thought of that BEFORE getting out of his car AGAINST the advice of the police and CONFRONTING Trayvon Martin.
Just a small correction: it was a 911 operator, not the police, and there was absolutely no evidence that he confronted Trayvon or did not return to his car as it was suggested by the operator. Let's stick to the real and proven facts for a reasonable discussion.

This is the reason my family told their offspring if you get in trouble, it is your own damned fault. Don't court trouble, don't dance with trouble and don't dress like trouble and don't act like you are looking for trouble.
None of the original mess would have happened if either set of parents had been able to make that point with either party.

I agree with you, except I would like to add one caveat: none of it would have also happened if there were not so many crimes being committed that make us so fearful for our lives and property.

HUH? He is out and about. Speeding in TX, speeding in FL, fighting with the bride.
You seem to have some sort of a personal connection to these people. Query me this, has George or his wife ever had a REAL JOB. You've already established that both sets of parents are productive workers, how about these two.

I'm confused. I did answer it in post 59 and you responded in post 60. I have no personal connection, but I follwed and researched the case and trial extensively because of I am a paralegal who once attended law school and I was very curious how the case would turn out. Let me make it clear that I never have said George, O.J., or Casey were innocent, I just said that our jury system determined the State didn't prove their guilt. That is our justice system. I for one think their are many scumbags who get off unfairly, but because there are very few people who are convicted that are innocent (especially with DNA proof), I still think it is a great system. I would just want to die if a loved one of mine was unfairly convicted of a crime he didn't commit because people didn't like him or tried to frame him with only circumstantial evidence. How would you all feel about that?

MAN, why do they always backpaddle? I guess the answer is NO JOB.
I'm sure that as a paralegal you are aware that the courts do not judge anyone "innocent" and that innocent is not the same as "not guilty", but that is not the issue here. My question was "Do they work? Have they ever?" Thank you for your roundabout answer.

Buggy, I usually like your way of thinking and enjoy your posts. But ... of course you know there are many fine people who live in trailers and have impeccable lifestyles. It's an ugly expression that shouldn't be defended.

I still don't understand your responses as I did answer and I will copy and post that section from post 59: "George was a investigator for a mortgage forclosure investigation/fraud company, and Shellie was going to Nursing School.". I consider that honorable work and education, not a "NO JOB". There is nothing roundabout about my answer in post 59, and I will once again say that I never said they were innocent, just not proven guilty. Can I respectfully ask you what your point is with your statements and questions?

The wife is 26 and was going to nursing school=NO JOB.
George was an investigator....=NO JOB, not a real one anyway.

What word would you use for someone who has killed another person besides "killer"?
In my mind the unmodified term "killer" is a pejorative term. Perhaps someone with a less nuanced vocabulary would see it differently.
I would not apply the term to anyone who killed someone if that person was justified in the killing by virtue of doing so in the line of duty, such as law enforcement officers or military personnel.
The same would apply to someone cleared by a trial of criminal charges related to a homicide.
On a related subject, Zimmerman did not use the Stand Your Ground law as a defense at his trial. I believe the judge made reference to it in the jury instructions. If so, it would be because the judge thought it contributed to the elements of the case.
As a retired law enforcement officer, having served at both the local and federal levels, with an aggregate of almost forty years of experience, I support the law. "Shall issue" concealed weapons laws and the stand your ground laws have contributed to a safer public.

This entire thing about Zimmie being not guilty or getting away with a killing is over. The jury found him not guilty - just like Casey Anthony - and therefore should be dropped. If Zimmie does stupid things now, he just going to end up owing Shellie a ton of money in divorce.
No more from me on this subject.

But don't forget, George Zimmerman is still being investigated by the Justice Department for a hate crime. They seized all the evidence from the trial, including Zimmerman's gun, as soon as he was acquitted. They are probably looking at every word he ever uttered to see if Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated under the hate crimes law that President Obama signed in 2010.

I really do not see a connection between murder and having no jobs. The statistics do not seem to back this up either. Does Unemployment Presage Crime? - WSJ.com (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123974939828118493.html)
And as to jobs, I got into about 12 Marquis Who's Who publications from 1992 through 2002 (and nominated for 24)--like Marquis Who's Who in the World, 12th Ed, 1995 (page 622)-- because of all the free time I had because of a blackball placed on me by very powerful people for fighting for better access to practical information for survivors of crimes. I had wanted to be honest about a niche in services for survivors of crimes in law libraries in the United States and basically got laughed out of the law librarianship profession. Being unemployed does not quickly translate as not being useful to other people as I have done wonders with my free time as I am sure many other people who have had the misfortune of not working have done. George Zimmerman was a doing a worthwhile job as neighborhood watch coordinator http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Trayvon_Martin , he just did a very poor job of it when he went after Trayvon Martin without waiting for the police. He could have kept an eye on Martin from his car to see if he was up to no good and instead forced a very bad situation. He did murder Martin, weather or not it was justified homicide or not probably will never be known for certain except by George Zimmerman and God.
George Zimmerman was working as an insurance underwriter when the Trayvon Martin shooting happened and probably now would have a very hard time in getting any type of job because of his notoriety. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Zimmerman http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/25/us-usa-florida-shooting-zimmerman-idUSBRE83O18H20120425 Not sure what jobs Zimmerman's wife held but she is a licensed cosmologist.
From Reuters article:In 2007 he married Shellie Dean, a licensed cosmetologist, and in 2009 the couple rented a townhouse in the Retreat at Twin Lakes. Zimmerman had bounced from job to job for a couple of years, working at a car dealership and a mortgage company. At times, according to testimony from Shellie at a bond hearing for Zimmerman last week, the couple filed for unemployment benefits.
Zimmerman enrolled in Seminole State College in 2009, and in December 2011 he was permitted to participate in a school graduation ceremony, despite being a course credit shy of his associate's degree in criminal justice. Zimmerman was completing that course credit when the shooting occurred.

My comments had nothing to do with the killing of TM (remember there was no murder). I thought we were discussing the recent fiasco, the one with the bride prancing around with her ipad and George once again (IMO)acting the fool. Once again, nobody can get their story straight, LE is spending money to take the ipad apart and forensically see who the liar is. These two have way too much time on their hands.
Does unemployment effect the murder rate? IDK, I guess it would depend on your line of work, maybe if you were a hitman.

Well, maybe you are right about that one. Believe that many women who have had problems with their husbands with respect to physical and/or emotional abuse often recant their stories because of the love they feel for their husbands. The state often has to force them to act against their spouses. A penpal of mine over the past 10 years or so wrote a good book about this. She managed to eventually get away. http://www.amazon.com/Totally-Discombobulated-Evelyn-Fort-Stewart/dp/0755200594
