I heard a rumor today from another medical provider...this is a rumor with no other confirmation...that Villages Health at Colony Cottage had reached its targeted "patient panel" for the doctors who practice there and are no longer accepting new patients.

There are supposed to be eight doctors at each of eight VH offices throughout The Villages. The doctors will be limited by their practice business model to no more than 1,250 patients per doctor.

Is is possible, or has it been confirmed by anyone, that the Colony Cottage office of Villages Health is no longer accepting patients?

Maybe some have reached their 1250 quota, but doubt all have.

A call to the office might get you the best answer

Some of the doctors have met their quote, but I just called the other day and there is a new female DO starting on the 16th - she will be my new doc that is replacing the one I started with, but is now gone (thank goodness).

I was there about 10 days ago to turn in my new-patient questionnaire and schedule my first appointment. I was told two docs (don't remember names) were essentially "full." All others were accepting new patients.

I tried two days ago to get an appointment with one of the female docs, both were full. Instead I got appointments with the new female doc in the Spanish Springs area, for late October when after that clinic opens.

We were there on Sept 3rd, and at that time David Jordahl, Karla Noel & Susan Hawley were no longer taking patients.

Michael Clifford, John Hocutt and Brooks Betts were still available. That was over a week ago, so things could be filled by now.

I was a little upset to find out they were taking people from throughout the villages, and no longer staying with the neighborhoods originally designated.

Just enrolled yesterday, had no problem getting Dr. Clifford for husband and myself. We are now patients and will be seen if the need arises. However, our get acquainted appt. isn't until Nov 21st.

I found him to be very good and likeable, and I would chose him in a nano-second for my physician except for two things. One, I already have a Dr I like and secondly that he is working at Colony only until the Pinnelas Center it's completed. For anyone looking for Pinnelas I would recommend their considering Dr. Riley."

Is this the official policy now? We were recently told that each would still be based on neighborhood and not opened wide until all homes in the specific villages were given an opportunity to join.

Thanks for any info anyone may have.

This is a change from the time when the Colony Care Center first opened.
