Anyone tried the "Pimsleur" method of learning a foreign language? I keep getting the ad as a pop up on AOL news page. I must have looked at the ad some time.
I'd like to learn Spanish, I learn languages easily, but don't have time for yet another class! You know how it is at TV - busy, busy, doing all manner of fun things. No wonder we retire to bed around 9.00 pm, we are all exhausted. Anyway, before I spend $ on the product, I thought I'd ask my friends here on TOTV.

I guess anyone can learn basic words. Learning sentence structure not so easy. As long as you are happy with saying bano and only bano to find a bathroom then it would work. I have learned Spanish but nothing was easy about it and I can't imagine there being an easy way.

Then of course there is the problem when they answer you in Spanish and you don't have a clue what they just said...

Don't ask me how I know this... Just know it wasn't pretty.....

I bought the Pimsleur course and it works, but its not easy. I suspect that all of the auditory courses (Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone, etc) are about the same. They teach you language the way we all learned our primary language, by hearing and word association, and context clues.

I thought I was asking for the grocery and kept getting sent to the potty.

Maybe it's the pained look?

But once you went to the potty and asked for the produce section, I bet you didn't make that mistake again. Context clue.
