WE MINGLE. WE talk to each other everywhere and play cards, golf, bridge, bocce, bingo, bunco, pickle ball, softball, basketball, and we dance and we paint and we bike and we roller blade and we laugh....a lot.
This is a mingling place and very rarely does age matter, or money, or possessions or what we used to do.
I love this place.
The older villages have about the same selling prices as the newer ones if you compare the same style of home: patio villas, courtyard villas, cottages, designers, premiers.

Money and status is not much of an issue here. Initially, you mingle with neighbors, especially if a new development. That changes over time and friends begin to come from interests rather than locale. The odd thing I have noticed is that there is more reverse snobbery -- those in the "cheaper" homes seem to be more willing to put down those who live in the premiers but even that is rare.

Your housing looses importance gradually as you live here over time. It really is all about the activities. For most folks it's all about ease of care and upkeep. I find most of my friends have "been there and done that" with large homes when we all had the energy to care for them and actually enjoyed it. Haven't run into any type of discrimination or "put-down" yet, going on 2 years. I guess most folks are just happy to be here and love having friends to do activities with.

I asked lots of folks why they sold and moved to a different village home. The answers were as follow and listed with the most common first.
1. Wanted a golf cart garage.
2. Wanted more privacy.
3. Wanted a pool.
4. Wanted lanai to have afternoon shade.
5. Wanted to get away from the current neighbor.
Using that information, we have a large lot with a golf cart garage. We had t&d put in a pool and our lanai faces east. I never see the neighbors because of our lot privacy.
