Hi All,
Does anyone know a ball park per square foot figure for having a birdcage built.
We have just been quoted over $10k which seems extortionate given how flimsy they are.
That does not include the concrete foundations etc, just the Birdcage structure

it would help if you gave the size of the birdcage

We just got a quote of $4400 for a 18 by 14 which included the foundation. This will be in the back backing up to the house. So the birdcage part would be a wall of 5 feet , wall of 18 feet and wall of 14 feet. I do not know if this is high or not. We are getting another quote. You should get another quote or two.

Could you provide the name of the contractor that gave you that quote. I would be interested in getting an estimate for my Villa too.

You know what they say, "When the price is too good to be true, it usually is too good to be true!" Structural aluminum is not cheap and there's quite a bit of work involved in preparing the footings and pouring concrete. So you have to ask yourself where are labor costs and profit? As John Reis has asked, who is the contractor? With the building boom South of 466A, there's plenty of birdcage work out there.

Thanks to all who replied.
Ours is quite big, 68ft x 25ft and we have now talked to a few neighbours, so the price may not be so far out after all. :cryin2:

Random question, can you use a gas grill inside a birdcage? I'm thinking the heat might not play well with the screen material...

That price sound reasonable for such a huge birdcage! I assume you've checked with ARC to ensure you're in compliance with lot line clearance.

Sorry I have not given this info sooner. The name of the contractor who gave the bid of $440 is Brian Terry Vinyl.

Brian Terry Vinyl has done both vinyl siding and lanai screening as a sub-contractor to both original home builders and to the after market for more than ten years, and is considered to be a reliable contractor. We've used them for gutters. Sounds like an excellent price. Good luck with your project.
