Tonight I am gutted! My husband has just booked his flight to TV without me! Sadly I cannot get a "babysitter" for our 2 cats so I must stay behind and look after them. Tony shall be coming over to sort a few things and get a few bits n pieces in place for our move to TV from the UK, funny enough ALL of our mates have volunteered to come over with him....Hmm....wonder why??? He shall arrive on the 15th October for 6 days so he shall be lucky enough to meet all the fabulous people we met on our previous visit and hopefully a few more too. Did I mention I was gutted? What is a girl to do, eh?!

:cryin2: I know how you feel, mine is going down next week with a friend and I am staying behind to work. Too bad those "mates" that are ready and willing to make the enormous sacrifice of making such a long trip with your husband didn't come come forward and volunteer to watch the kitties. :(

Sorry I will miss him, we are there for 5 day from Oct. 7th for meetings with designers, then flying to Las Vegas for a few days. I do hope we will get together in the future.

Board them with your vet. They will be safe and will be together so they will not be lonely. Cats adjust very well. Been there done that. Cats did fine.

Hmmmm this has me thinking.
I am not doing much in October, the villa is empty, I need to pick up our new golf cart.
Maybe I should drop down to the villa for a couple weeks.
But my wife is working all of October. Should I risk making someone jealous?

My husband will be retiring this December while I continue to work. He will have the opportunity to go to TV when he wants. We are just a "short" 6.5 hour drive away.
The cat and I will miss him. Wonder how many trips he will make without me and kitty?

Okay, as hard as it may be on me, I can shuffle my schedule and fly to UK, stay at your house, and care for the cats so you can accompany your hubby to TV. Let me know when I should expect my business class airline ticket to arrive. Oh I need to bring my female companion with me as I don't cook. Now, there is your solution! :)

Dear Beekman,
How kind of you to offer to shuffle your schedule to suit us, my husband said we only fly first class (not really) and your tickets are in the post! My husband does not cook either so I wonder who he shall find to cook and clean whilst in TV without me there to do it for him :p

Hi asianthree,
I hear what your saying, however our Vet only boards sick, or recovering animals. Once when we went to Sri Lanka for 3 weeks I left the cats in a cattery and when we got back my big girl cat was SOOOO thin, she had pined for me the whole time and it broke our hearts to see her that way so I said never again would I per her through it, nor me! It is a sacrifice I am willing to take allowing Tony to come over on his own. I just hope he does not buy a house or anything else for that matter without me!

LuvlyJubly, In the UK, are there pet sitting services where someone (bonded and insured) will come into your home once or twice a day to feed your cats, play with them and take care of your cats' litter box(es)? In the U.S., these services are readily available. I use a pet sitting service whenever I am out of town for more than 1 day. I have used the same pet sitting service for 11 years once my former neighbor (who was my first pet sitter) moved out of state in 2002. Magic (my first cat) and Molly (my current cat) do quite well with my current pet sitter who is a real animal lover.

Dear Schaumburger,
Oh yes there are those types of services here too. My normal cat sitter happens to be on holiday the same time of Tony's trip and anyone else will not do unfortunately. Tony coming over without me is just a sacrifice I am willing to take as I am not prepared to leave my 2 precious babies. The things we do for our animals eh?!

Exactly.
We would leave our cats all the time in the care of a neighbor girl who would come in and feed them, water them, play with them, change the litter box. Cats are mostly indoor creatures and nap their time away. Ours always were perfectly healthy when we would return.
The dogs would be put in a kennel......everyone boarded their pets when they were going on vacation.
Since our children have grown up and left home and the last cat died about 15 years ago, we are petless. It is a lot easier, believe me.
We can go where we please without worrying about them.....or the vet bills.

Wow....Every weekend eh?! If I would let him my husband would go EVERY weekend too! Good thing he cannot as we would be broke for all the airfare costs, etc and he would be knackered with jetlag! Good luck with the sell of your home and we will of course cross our fingers and we shall even cross our toes :loco:
