Going to buy a new iPhone. Trying to select the best plan. If I go with T Mobile and buy the phone outright, I will not have a contract--which appeals to me. Concerned about coverage. Anyone have T Mobile who can tell me how the coverage is?

I have AT&T and do not have an issue with my IPhone.
Sorry I do not know anything regarding T-Mobile

From friends who bought the WalMart T Mobile smart phone plan...service was terrible....not only in the villages but all along the east coast. I would make further checks to see if service has improved before you buy a T-Mobile phone outright and then be stuck with it.

i have tmobile and find the service to be excellent throughout all of the villages! live on the historic side and travel all around - even out to brownwood on occasion. also travel from maine to florida on 95 and have good to excellent service - a bit limited in the rural area of maine but fine on the hiways and major roads/towns - and have only spotty covg in the north carolina between wilson and smithfield. however - am not using a smart phone - don't know if that makes a difference - don't need 3g/4g service to connect.

If your main concern is to avoid a contract consider Boost Mobile. There is no contract and they have a program of rate reduction every six months that you pay your bill on time, down to a basic cost.
You can "reload" your payments on line or with a card purchased at Walmart. I put my payments on autopay with my credit card and my monthly cost for use of my smartphone is $45. It started at around $65. To get into the program you have to buy your phone from Boost or a Boost phone at stores like Best Buy.
Boost actually uses the Sprint telephone network.
Here is the bad news. Since cell towers are "unsightly" there don't seem to be many scattered through The Villages. I don't know of anyone who claims to actually have excellent cell phone reception.

I have had T-mobile here in TV for 13 years with no real problems. Some areas do have a stronger signal than others but I have had no problems with calls. Had T-mobile in Pennsylvania for many years prior to coming here and have no problems when I go back home.
I've used T-Mobile since 2002. Have good reception in most areas of The Villages. I've travelled (had a project in every state) for the last 12 years as a consultant and have not had a problem with coverage.
