Hey Single peeps, forget being afraid to dance. I'm making a commitment to come to this class. I've been dancing since 40 years old and can help you overcome fear. I'm not a teacher, I'm an encourager.

I hope you are still doing this in April when I arrive.
I started dancing at Arthur Murray for my daughter's wedding. One year later I'm bronze, but still learning. I understand in dancing you are always striving, never perfect. If you stumble make it part of the dance.
My lady dance partner has just decided not to move to TV with me, so I will be a little rusty. But if you have the oil I have the joints. And my shoes have suede soles.

I've always got WD-40, Kris. Lots of dance classes going on but not so many folks have any background and much of the instruction is amateur and free. Many of the opptys to dance here are for people with a partner. Performance groups abound, but not ballroom. I dance ballroom and Argentine Tango, contra, zydeco, etc and enjoy most any chance to dance so we'll definitely find each other.
Where are you coming from?

I'm in Maryland.
Retired in May from the federal government. Forty years in DoD. Last 15 at the Pentagon.
I've been to TV twice before.
This trip is a long term (Apr-Dec) rental in Hemingway while my home is on the market here. As soon as it sells I plan on, all things considered, buying something in TV. Designer looks most likely. Can't decide on new or pre-owned. North or south. The long term rental will help with that.
Right now I'm cleaning out the house, going to the gym, etc. Getting ready.
My biggest concern is being active in retirement. I've been looking at the various TV activities - biking, dancing, pickle ball, etc. - to see how I can fill up my time. I understand how it can start out slow being a newbie, but I don't expect that to last forever.
Dancing instruction was the basic ballroom; waltz, rhumba, swing, fox trot, cha cha. I'm not particularly good but the rough edges have been smoothed out. Now, I feel like I'm losing it fast since I don't have a dance partner.
Probably to much information.
Look forward to meeting you and the rest of the great people in TV. It's all about the residents.
Now its time to have breakfast and head to the gym.

Calling all wannabee dancers! Chacha and I will be making our way from the south to Chatham Mondays at 12:30 and returning 2:30 after dance class. Let one of us know if you want to ride with us. this is basic beginner dance that will teach mindfulness about dance, not just how to take steps.
