I tried around 6 PM but it told me it would take 9 hours and then it quit after 1/2 hour. I'll try the end of the week.

I updated my iPhone and iPad. Took a few tries due to everyone else trying to upgrade today but once it started it did not take long at all. 20 minutes or so. However I do not like the new graphics. They went from 3D to flat graphics. Maybe I will get used to it but my wife does not want to upgrade her iPhone and iPad. She only uses the phone and email and what she has now works just fine and is prettier looking. :)

Do not like the new calendar display

As far as the changes in the graphics, it smacks of change for the sake of change......I thought the previous version was fine.

I use the calendar a lot and I do not like the changes in the 7. On the previous version when you went to a given day it displayed any events on that day. The new one when you go to the day you have to scroll to see/find what is there.
To me that is a step backward.

In the next few days I will get to see what functions are better. I have an iPhone 4, so I don't expect any significant changes.

To see the "List View" on the new calendar just tap the 'magnifying glass' in the upper right hand corner.

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 and showed it to my wife. She said to leave her iPhone 4s alone with iOS 6.

I also upgraded my desktop and laptop to Windows 8 and left her laptop at Windows 7.

I noticed this morning that you are forced to update your itunes to ver 11.1. For me, that will take the rest of the day while my music library indexes. I'll have to do the IOS update on my ipad tonight after work (why am I still working?)

I installed IOS7 last night....still trying to decide if I like it or not. Things are different that's for sure. Will work with this new version when I can today and try and familiarize myself with the new look, functions, design.

Do not like the icon boxes, I grouped them and the older version was easier visually, for me. The Photos section looks interesting.

Will take a bit of practice, but one thing I do know, until I gain proficiency with this new version, I won't be letting my Mom in law install it....will confuse the heck out of her.

In Safari:

1. Tap the 3rd icon from the right - the book.
2. Tap 'edit' - lower right hand corner.
3. Tap one of the bookmarks (not the red dot) and then under "location" choose the folder you want to put the bookmark in.
4. It's the same method if you want to move bookmarks out of favorites.

What Apple is doing is trying to emulate the look and feel of their competition. In fact, the graphics are very Windows 8 looking and text is now thin. Us seasoned citizens have to realize that most technology products are aimed squarely at the young people, they want phones in colors and ways to instantly document their every movement in text and with pictures easily uploaded to the various social media websites.

Don't forget in iOS 7 you have the ability to change the font size for all applications (including the OS itself!) that support dynamic font sizes. Go to Settings-General-Text Size.

How about Font colors? Get better contrast for aging eyes. Hard sometimes to read that light blue on white now on iPhone 5.

Hearing many negative comments about 7 here and on other websites. Though Rush liked it.

after a few days of use I still say they made changes for the sake of change ala like the competition.

The calendar and appointment making is not as good as io 6......I am sure we will get used to it.

I too think the white printing on light colored backgrounds is not very legible.

If I had the option to go back to io6 I would without hesitation. I have elected to not download io7 to my wife's phone....it has taken me too long to get her to where she is capability wise...the beauty is she will not be missing anything.

And people are standing in line to spend hundreds of dollars to get this (plus a few new features????) no way. My iphone 4 with io6 was the best phone I ever had....as will continue to be with io7.

I went to Verizon today with a couple of questions regarding IOS 7 that I downloaded on my phone. The gentleman said that he is advising people to wait a couple of weeks before updating and give that system time to work out the wrinkles. Too late for me on the phone but I'm glad I didn't upgrade on my IPAD.. One thing I mentioned was that last night I couldn't double click the hm button & have all the programs I had used thru out the day start their little shaking so I could close them out before turning off & that so happens to be one of the wrinkles that should eventually get straightened out. Lots of complaints regarding the calendar. I don't like the skinny font..changing the wallpaper helps some.

Believe me, there is no way back.

I have to have everything (iOS 7, Windows 8, etc.) on day 1, it's just the way I am.

I waited until day 2 to convert my wife's iPhone (she still has Windows 7) and she is about to kill me.

Just a caution....

It's probably still "technically" possible to downgrade your phone back to iOS6, but why would you want to. In a month, you'll forget how you did things in iOS6 and be proficient with 7. Actually, there are some really good things in iOS7, like the new "quick" settings feature and the new photos app is amazing.

Since iOS7 is so different in look and feel, developers have started developing apps for iOS7. That means if your go back to [or stay with] iOS6, you will NOT be able to use the newest apps; nor will you be able to upgrade the apps you already have, if they are rewritten to take advantage of iOS7.

Finally, in the end, if you keep using an iPhone, you WILL upgrade the OS. Whether you keep your existing iPhone or upgrade to a newer phone sometime in the future. It's always best to keep current with the latest Apple OS and for me, Apple upgrades have always been the easiest and most stable upgrades of any technology platform I have used.

Just my two cents...

Hi Schaumburger.... How's that Chicago weather?

If you have the original iPad, you cannot upgrade to iOS7. In fact, you were not even able to upgrade to iOS6; you're still stuck on iOS5.

Glad to see you here, Mike. So far, working with the new operating system hasn't been difficult, but the picture resize situation still needs to be resolved. I'm sure there will be an update to correct the problem. Installed iOS7 on my phone last night. You're right, it won't be long before iOS7 will be comfortable to use.

On a positive note I really like the apple radio that is in the music icon. The only problem I see with it is it does not offer a shuffle. Hopefully they will fix that. As it stands now it looks like it could put Pandora out of business. It's free with no stoppage and no ads.

Did you know you can preform automatic updating of apps with iOS7? If you choose this option, you will no longer see that little red circle on the app store icon, telling you that you have 26 apps to update!

If, after the fact, you want to see what has been updated, when and what the update entailed, just go into the App Store ---> Updates and it will show you each app update, along with date and you can read about the updated features.

Cheers....

Thank you for the iPad info. I've spent enough on technology this year -- bought a new laptop 6 months ago, so the three year old iPad will have to do as I don't use it that much. In fact I purchased it second hand last year.

Chicago had a slightly cooler than normal summer. Today temp is 68 and not a cloud in the sky. Forecast to be back up to 78 by Wednesday and no rain forecast for the next week. September and June are the best weather months in Chicago IMHO.

Very disappointed in I0S7. Anemic colors, and my iphone 4 is now operating slower. Went to buy the new 5s, frustrated to find they had no stock even though we were 7th in line on opening morning. One of my favorite apps, notes, went from a nice yellow lined appearance which made it easy to delineate different notes, to a blank white slate. Really? With no options to change appearance to something more friendly on the eyes? Thumbs down Apple, for this rush to market. Steve Jobs is already SORELY missed.
