You can tell the "birds" are flying back. The golf courses now are adorned with cigarette butts at the tees and greens and the maniac speeders are flying around with golf carts turned up and cars racing on the streets! Oh to welcome back April !

Yup...we're back!
To qualify as a true snowbird, can you tell me how to "turn up" my cart so I can be an official returning snowbird?

Yeah!! They're coming back. Means more vitality everywhere, all those happy faces who don't take TV for granted. My daughter gets to make more than survival money at work. The stores get to make some money and survive another year. Welcome back!!! Snowbirds, you've been missed.

Always something to look forward to. Fall and winter we get lower humidity and temps and summer less congestion and more specials at restaurants.

Snowbirds or Fudgies {FL vs MI} they both stimulate the local economy, personally I prefer to be called a 'seasonal resident', I have the best of both worlds and love it! See you soon in TV; after I enjoy the beautiful fall color in Northern Michigan, on Beautiful Intermediate Lake.

You ain't seen nuttin yet .... wait until November and the streets will be flooded with dancin' snowbirds.

And perhaps you can share how to turn up a golf cart to achieve maniac speed. I'm sure my fellow snowbirders would like to know. :a20:

Try "NOS" for those golf carts, that should get those carts to break neck speed in no time :crap2:. It's actually pretty easy to speed up some carts.:angel:

I guess we are just another season that has to be endured. Just like......

Hurricane season

Love Bug season

Tornado Season

and then.......Snowbird season

Kind of different for us, being used to driving into Montana and seeing huge "Welcome Canadian Visitors" signs. I guess our impact is viewed differently there.

NOS is Nitrous Oxide.

Used in many drag racing cars. Now, if I put a shot of Nitrous on my golf cart...

And this snow bird will be back in TV in a couple of weeks. I'm tired of all the nasty drivers here in New England and can't wait to enjoy all the friendly and courteous folks in the Villages. :D

I always get a chuckle when I read posts about all the negative things going on in The Villages and that all of them can be blamed on the nasty and dreaded "Snowbirds"!!

I am not a fulltimer, and would consider myself a snowflake, coming back and forth to TV all year long. We spend 7-8 months total in TV.

During the "non-snowbird" season, I have witnessed:
1. golf carts passing me out faster than my 19 MPH max speed;
2. dog poop treads on TOTV:
3. people reserving chairs at the squares and not sitting in them;
4. golf cart crashes;
5. car crashes;
6. cigarettes and cigar butts on golf courses, streets, squares, etc;
7. trash in many places besides trash receptacles;
8. people with attitudes or sour dispositions;
9. driving mistakes in roundabouts;

and the list goes on!!!

Non of us are perfect and that is what makes living in The Villages a beautiful experience for the 100,000+ residents that have had the good fortune to retire to this wonderful place.

Florida Snowbird Story
A Place of Balance

Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.
He inquired of God, "Where have you been?"

God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael, look what I've made."

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it
I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

"Balance?", inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing to different parts of earth, "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while southern Europe is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black
people," God continued, pointing to different
countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a large land mass
and said, "What's that one?"

"Ah," said God. "That's The Villages, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful lakes, rivers, streams and climate. The people in The Villages are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they are going to be found
traveling the world.

They will be extremely sociable, hardworking and high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance, God?" You said there would be balance!"

God replied wisely, "Wait until you see the idiots I'm sending them from the
North every winter!

NOS is an abbreviation for nitrous oxide which under extreme pressure, is used in drag racing cars to give a short and quick shot of horsepower.

I guess, in fun, you could put it on a gas golf cart, and be able to hit 60 MPH on Morse Blvd. (HA HA) in case you are running late for a tee time :)

Used to bother me being labeled as a "snowbird" but don't mind it anymore. We would stand out with our white legs and sunburned foreheads. Well, after a couple of weeks, we look just like the frogs, and now no way to tell who lives here, renters or owners, and how long.

Welcome Back all you Wonderful Snowbirds..Yes I do mean it here's why:

1) You will be Speeding/Tailgating on all of the Villages Roads , and I as well as many Non Snowbirds have been looking forward to your return.

2) You will eventually get caught it may take a few weeks " But " you will get caught .

3) This will of course result in " Fines " which in turn will help keep our roads here in the Villages really, really nice.. Thank You

4) One last piece of news for all of you..Bonifay Restaurant check it out, especially for dinner and be sure to have that special meal on the " Lani "
and don't for a second believe the tales about the flies/gnats that some people are talking about " Rumors " all of them. Also you have got to try the Beef Stroganof, over Penne out of this world.

5) Oh and before I forget thank you for contributing to the recent road up-grade on Buena Vista Blvd. North of CR466, your Speeding/Tailgating $$$$ Fines really work...a High Five to all of you !!! Beep Beep

Again Welcome Back !!

Love the bit of humor associated with the arrival of those who are fleeing the harsh winters up north.

I grew up in Florida and "snowbirds" are what kept many businesses open. You snowbirds are smart and know what the best time of year is in Fl.

Those that truly dread the arrival of snowbirds sure don't mind the fact that they pay a large portion of the fees and bonds associated with the fantastic amenities in TV.
So the year round residents shouldn't gripe too much. You have the place to yourselves much of the year.

And those that can't take a bit of humor. That's too bad! We will all have a laugh at our own expense at one time or another. Life is too short to get your panties in a wad.

Enjoy the blessings you have. Life is short! Too short to bicker among ourselves!!!

We've only been here 5 weeks and can't wait to meet some birds! It's fun getting to know people. I love hearing about where they are from . Big cities, small towns whatever! I think it'll be great. I'm sure lines will be longer, but we're in no hurry anyway. All those accents mixed into one exciting fun winter! Wooohooo I say. Sign me half yankee half redneck....and I wouln't want it any other way.
Sooooo there Is a way to "turn up" a golf cart. And here I thought ours was slowing down. Clever yanks!

I've never understood the logic of berating snowbirds. They pay the same taxes, assessments and amenities as we do, and they leave for 7 to 9 months when they're consuming none of the golf tee times, restaurant reservations, exercise class slots, etc.....leaving more for us who live here year-round.

And as for littering cigarette butts etc., I don't think that's the case on the part of snowbirds. Most TV homeowners cannot wait to get to their retirement age/financial position so they can move here, and their pride in ownership is as serious as anybody who's here full-time already.

Maybe....renters don't care as much as owners. But I can't see berating all snowbirds.

We miss our neighbors who go north for the summer and our neighborhood parties aren't quite the same without them and renters who come back to the same home every year.
