Now that Chromecast has been out a while, anybody using it?

I have reviewed most of what is available via google search.

My conclusion is that it is a low cost streaming device that accesses Netflix, you tube and ones computer. I suppose the computer streaming allows one to view anything that can be accessed via the computer.

Does anybody in TV have one? Comments pro or con?

What do you recommend/suggest?

Just got mine at Best Buy. Set-up was real easy. Quality is excellent.

My biggest disappointment is the movies that netflixs offers

Have only used the Chromecast device a few times and it works as stated. You get three free months of Netflix with your purchase and I use that on my iPad nearly every night in bed. I have been watching Breaking Bad from the beginning, and just a few minutes ago I watched an old episode of The Cisco Kid. I will keep Netflix.

I just got one this week, hooked it up and verified that I can get Netflix. Everything seems good so far

I just got mine within the last week. The setup went fine, but my primary use doesn't look like it is going to work. I was planning on using it when travelling to watch my home TiVo via a Slingbox, and put it up on a TV wherever I happen to be. The problem is, that while I can see my SlingPlayer tab on Chrome through the ChromeCast, it doesn't show the TV picture, just a black screen.
Maybe either ChromeCast or SlingBox will eventually put out an enhancement to make it work.

Just got ours last week and love it. My husband loves to watch You Tube videos and now he can watch them on the big screen or if he wants to me to see one he can just zap it over to the tv so I can watch. I had Netflex once before and found it to have a lot of old stuff not much new. Got the 3 month free trial so will give it another chance. But the Chromecast device for a mere $35 we feel is well worth it!

This is a great device for anyone with an older HDTV that does not have the ability to stream from the internet. Anything you pull up on your computer, in Chrome, you can cast to your TV.

I have several Roku boxes at home. Took one with me to the Villages to use in a rental home. They are very small and you can move them from TV to TV if you want. They will sink with your wireless router and you can get Netflix Youtube Amazon Prime and lots more. I recommend the top of line one for $99 if going wireless.

Ditto, I have two Roku 3's and have been happy watching Netflix, HuluPlus and Amazon shows.

I have Roku for Amazon Prime rentals. I got rid of Netflix as the movies sucked.

I got Chromecast to use with my ipad2 about two months ago. It rocks for Youtube! Youtube has much better content than most people imagine, with one hour videos, interviews, etcetera. I adore Youtube on my 70 inch TV with Chromecast.

Easily worth 35 clams.

I have had Chromecast for about a month now and I love it. I like that I can cast content from my tablet and once it begins streaming on my TV I can still surf the net or do other things on my tablet without interrupting what I am casting.

Very easy to use and you can't beat it for $35!

I got a Chromecast for Christmas and found it relatively easy to set up. It seems to work fine but the commercials are a bit disceptive. They overstate the amount of content you can view on the TV. The commercials imply you can do everything from your mobile device that you can do from your PC. This is not true. If you want to Cast internet content, for example Facebook, you can do by running the Chrome browser wit the Chromecast plug-in. However, there is no plug-in capability for Chrome running Android or IOS so this precludes most tablets such as my wife's Nexus or my iPad. For most partner services such as Netflixs, ther are versions of the software for all platforms.

Considering I only invested $35 for the device, this is just a minor annoyance and I suspect it will be solved sometime soon bu a software update.

It sounds like you are looking for a Miracast device. Chromecast is great but it is limited. I prefer the Android platform myself and have a few Android tablets in my household. You might want to check out Marquiscast. It is as easy to use as Chromecast without the limitations and it is only $59 at Walmart and Best Buy. I have an Android 4.2 tablet and I use both the Chromecast (when the kids are here) and the Marquiscast at other times. What can I say, I am a gadget queen!

I've got a Roku 2xs, got it for $49 and I picked it because it allows you to stream movies, videos, and music from your PC wirelessly via the FLEX app. It's also got more channels then the others. And it plays mindless games like angry birds using a RF remote. No pointing needed. It's OK for what it cost.

Been using Roku for several years. IMO, it is a great product.

What was that again Chrom wha.... Oh Gooooooogle. The company that tracks users and gathers all of that data. The one that keeps changing their privacy rules.

Got a Chromecast but brought it back immediately.

Found I could not play my Connecticut Uverse/Showtime online thru it which is why I bought it!!!

Did not want Netflix and just to watch Youtube wasn't worth it!
