Barbados! They look a lot like nissen huts to me, but nissen huts in Barbados may not be a bad thing.

Not so fast, JBlum....thought this rang a bell. Here's an old TOTV thread referencing an article in Leesburg paper where Morse's had a venture in Barbados. Looking at the website, terminology (the square) is familiar.
This could well be The Villages, Caribbean style.

The development in this thread and the Morse one in the article are on opposite ends of the island

The island of Barbados measures 21 miles by 14 miles... is it that much bigger than The Villages that Gary Morse couldn't work on two projects on opposite ends of the island? The Villages at Coverley website shows similarities to The Villages in Florida. The Town Square with a large Sales Office... Restaurants and shops around the square... The Farmers Market... The Health System... the water retention system. From the website it looks like it could very well be a smaller version of TV.

Mr. Morse is good friends with "Cow" Williams who basically controls most of the building on Barbados. Cow's polo team comes to The Villages annually to compete. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they teamed up doing something in Barbados.
This new development in Barbados looks a lot like our Villages, except it appears to be family friendly. Wishing this new community the best of luck.

You have to fly in.
Does that mean everyone's a snowbird?

If you are a smart rich developer anyplace in the world, you could become very very rich following the business model here.

Someone called the number listed and they answered by saying "It's another beautiful day in The Villages."

There is also a "villages" in the Canal Du Midi region of southern France. This is almost beautiful area. The marketing for this statement in the British Press, last year. One of the developers had something to do with TheVillages before this one!! There will also be an exclusive Rainbow village, also in the Canal Du Midi area.
Seems to be spreading far and wide!! :) :)

The smaller one is only 900 sq ft, 260 sq ft less than a Colony Patio Villa and twice the price!

The cost of doing biz on a resort island were the vast majority of building materials must be imported.

Oh, I like that one, “Le Village-Canal du Midi”. Wonder if anyone wants to do a home exchange for Florida!
The business model appears to have been taken from our Villages, very similar in providing entertainment etc. They will probably do very well, the French have changed the law and this is the only development now allowed on this Canal!
Wouldn't a development like this be more appealing to Europeans than coming all the way to Florida?
On second thoughts we might have to take this off the vacation list, my other half just came in and looked at the site and told me it's for an alternative lifestyle, not ours! Maybe I should do that eye test after all!

There are 2. The "rainbow" village. And then the villages type village. Lots of advertising for it here in the uk. Husband says he would not want to buy in France :) we can visit northern France from where we live, and do so quite often :)

New Villages location
*
*Thought you might be interested in this.**My friend*has a contact at Southern Lifestyles who told her that all of the furniture inventory in their stores was scheduled to be shipped to Barbados.**She did some research, and came up with the website. *If you look at the website for*“the villages at Coverley” you will see a lot of similarity to the Villages with things like town squares, nightly entertainment, line dancing on the square, golf carts, etc.* Susan actually called the number for the sales office and they answered the phone*“Good morning, it is a beautiful day in the Villages”, which certainly makes it look like this is the next venture by the Morse family.

Go to You Tube and search for "Villages at Coverly". There are videos there for it. Evidently, 300 homes have already been sold and it started back in 2011 according the Barbados Newspaper articles.
