Hubby has been reading the how to make a T-time thing on the web and as they assign the T times three days out and the requests are 7 to 4 days out does that mean you can't play the first week of your rental period?
We are renting one unit for Dec and a different one for Jan-Feb. So we will have two different golfer Id numbers ones that matches the rental and comes with the temp resident Id .
How do you handle it any suggestions.

That first week just call the starter shacks at the various courses if you want to play that day. Since you won't know your numbers beforehand, you may have to do it by calling for only the first day or two. You'll also have to get hooked up at the Villages.net for you to make reservations on the internet. It's at Sumter Landing and costs $8/mo.

Attend the good golf school. About 3-1/2 hours of your time well spent, and it will answer all your questions about the t-time system.

Upon arrival @ The Villages you will probably need to visit the sales office at Lake Sumter Landing to pick up your villages ID. While there, you can sign up for TheVillages.net. Once on line, you will be able to view all of the open times at the various courses.

The easiest way to go at first (or any time you don't need a scheduled time much in advance) is to call a couple of individual golf courses and ask what they have for open tee times and do that.
All the courses' phone and addresses are listed here (this is Executive golf section) and choose the Championship menu tab for those:
Golf The Villages (http://www.golfthevillages.com/executive-golf/index.asp)
Also, attend the Good Golf School class to learn about the online reservation system....they simplify the process:

Don't think anyone has mentioned the 1-3 days out available tee times (by phone or tee time online system). These change daily as people cancel. Try the system (by phone or online) at 10 or 11 at night.
Also, if one of you golfs by yourself, there are many open tee times, even in season, if you just show up at the courses and hang around for a short time (to fill in on the no-shows). Let the starters know and practice putting or find a shady spot and read a book for awhile.
Sometimes people will cancel day of play and I don't think that shows up on the tee time system (it might if the starter inputs it right away, but I'm not sure).
There are still groups who abuse the system (for instance, putting in a non-golfing spouse's id # for the 4th person if they only have a threesome). Some of these are not abusers - they think they'll find a 4th, but for some reason can't.
For your first week, call the courses for Exec. men's and ladies' days and get on the sub list - you will more than likely get called.
