We do not have gators up here, but these guys are pretty cute. I may have posted in the wrong forum as the pictures are not perfect, I could not find a 'Picture just OK' forum. The sun was behind the subjects and I was trying to sneak up on them. Even so, I thought they would make folks smile....
The fact they let me out onto deck with camera does not bode well for their life expectancy, unless they can tell the difference between a camera and a rifle.

Have you seen any bucks in the back yard? Would love to see photos if you do.
We have not seen any bucks in all of the years we have been here. The only other thing we see is turkeys, the bird, not our guests....
BTW. I personally had no issue with your post that you have changed, I am glad I got to see the original :beer3:

I was wondering how "our deer family" got to Norton Massachusetts?????
Even though it is impossible, each autumn and winter we seem to see the very same deer family in our Vermont back yard. Obviously, this past twenty years, it's been newer and newer generations of deer........but they seem to follow the same exact routine and "path"......the adult deer shows the younger ones where the apple trees and pear trees are.......they even dig under the snow in the winter.........
Where our home is now, used to be apple orchards......we'd walk our Irish Setters up this way when our kids were little........there are still professional apple orchards about a mile or two away........the Jamaican pickers are up to get in the apple crop.
Again, the deer are wonderful to view. GREAT PHOTOS........
Autumn in New England is a beautiful time of the year...........

I have sent gomoho a private message stating that I had edited my original post and asked him to please do the same. It wasn't my intent to offend anyone who may reads this thread.
No offense taken. You will find that any time you make a reference to hunting someone will get on his high horse and take offense. You can't govern your life according to the heightened sensibilities of others. Particularly of others who have never experienced the challenges of the hunt.
The fact is that the hunters' license fees, taxes paid on firearms and ammunition, and additional fees such as admission to wildlife management areas and Duck Stamps are a principal source of funds used to promote the welfare of wildlife.
There was a time, during the Dust Bowl period of the 1930s that the wetlands used by migrating ducks were drying up and disappearing, to the detriment of the duck population. At that time Ducks Unlimited was born; wetland areas were purchased and replenished and the duck population was saved. From that time to the present Ducks Unlimited has been the world leader in wetlands and wildlife preservation. And, who were these people? They were duck hunters. Ironically, perhaps, it is the hunters who did the most to save wildlife.
Hunters owe no apology for pursuing their sport to those who do not have the desire or the capability to hunt, kill and eat their own food rather than relying on slaughterhouses and food preparers for their daily meals.
Non-hunters, who are ill informed and would prefer that no wildlife should ever be harvested seem unaware that overpopulation, particularly of deer, leads to starvation and illness. Overpopulation is often evidenced by the deer getting smaller with each generation. In populated areas it also leads to deer depredations on the yard plantings (gardens, flowers and shrubbery) of homeowners.
The simple fact is that is is quite possible to have overpopulation of wildlife in an area.
Again, no need to apologize for musings about hunting.

LOVE YOUR FIRST PARAGRAPH.........
And actually...........every single subsequent paragraph thereafter.
Especially the last sentence.....which I hope folks take heed of.
Very intelligent post. Well written.
Ducks Unlimited is also big in Vermont......also, we saw a lot of duck hunting in South Dakota...
I still, for the life of me, cannot understand why everyone in TV feels the need to apologize if they say something "different"......who is it they are afraid they are offending?

Okay I'm not so sure this is the place you would want to advertise that you are out to kill these creatures with a bow or anything else for that matter.
The OP is posting pics of these fabulous animals in her yard and you're talking about taking them out. I understand the herds or whatever they are called need to be controlled just don't think this is where you want to talk bout it!

If you would take the time to read and understand my comment you would realize it was not in regard to hunting, but the inappropriateness of posting something about hunting when someone is sharing picture of deer in their back yard. Time and place for everything and the responder was kind enough to understand this point.:boom:

No, as a newcomer he was intimidated into changing his post because of your objection to the hunting reference.
In the posting that I saw, which seems to be gone, he didn't say a word about hunting the deer in the photo.
It is entirely appropriate, upon seeing photos of deer out in the open, to make a reference to hunting. If you were a hunter you would know this.
Other references to hunting might be "triggered" by photos of wild turkey, ducks, dove, quail or a dozen other kinds of game animals. (Oh dear.....a pun.)

"intimidated"
Not in the least, I removed my original comment because after thinking about it, I could see how some may be offended. Out of respect, I altered my comments.
Nothing less, nothing more.
I'm sure no one likes to admit to being intimidated. But removing or materially changing a posting because one person doesn't like it doesn't meet my perception of courage. Someone is going to be offended by almost anything you say; particularly if you mention hunting. Stick with fishing; fish aren't as cute and cuddly as our furry friends.
Perhaps I'm accustomed to a more rough and tumble arena.

They look like the deer we have in our yard in Norcal sans the white tails. We do sometimes see a buck - my 30 YO son strung lights between the back porch door and the shed because he walked out the door one night last winter and right into a buck. A couple years ago there was a herd of about 15 turkeys roaming around our yard and the nearby streets. Also, mountain lions have been seen in town (we probably should add more lights in the back yard).

You have got to be kidding me, Really!
Courage! lol
Do you troll these threads just waiting for the chance to get folks wild up? lol
If it makes you feel better, I was so "intimidated", I considered never returning to this forum. lol Your "perception of courage" might be a little off tilt, you might want to get that looked at.

Thank you for being so considerate Sprinkler Buddy when I open a post about pictures of deer I don't expect a discussion on hunting them.

Nope, I don't look for controversy; but I don't change what I've posted just because someone expresses criticism.
Maybe I missed something and you had already changed your original post before I joined the thread, but when I read your post I didn't see anything about killing the deer in the photos. In fact it was about going bow hunting for turkey with your two sons.
In contrast, gomoho accused you of wanting to kill the deer in the photos:

Since I didn't see a post by you that matched what you had been accused of, I chose to support your post about hunting since there are some regulars on TOTV who are against killing any wildlife for any reason, including nuisance alligators.
I was quite disappointed in you when you folded to the pressure to change your post because "some may be offended." If that is going to be your standard you should plan to never make another post about hunting.
I hope your sons have a great time hunting this season.

Sprinkler Buddy displayed class and sensitivity in his decision.
And it's his right to post as many hunting threads as he wants! Hopefully he will identify them as hunting threads so those so those of us who are squeamish can avoid them.
