The new Rec news requires the user to use Adobe Flash play. How many people here in The Villages use iPhones and iPads? Can't use Adobe Flash player. I would think that the Sun would be aware of how many people here use Apple products and now we can not have access to the Rec news on our devices.

I do not have any of the "dark side" devices like Iphones, but you might try this website for a downloadable app that supposedly will let you see Adobe Flash on the Apple IOS system.

Another benefit of the Android ecosystem, open platform devices are sooooo much more user friendly

Yup. The ire should not be directed at those who produce Flash-based products but Apple who think that they know better than everyone else.

well you also can't search rec news online anymore with explorer AND you have to listen to a very annoying click to change pages. frankly, that's what happens when you don't get any feedback during design process (and may think you are smoking hot making a click sound)....
let's say you want to go to page 33 to start looking at activities....now you have to click (ca-schmick, ca-schmick...) through 33 pages one by one....

lucky us...try this new website. if it doesn't work on your apple
let them know...

I hate the new rec news online format. The old format supported searching for events.

You can view it, but you can't search it with the find feature, can you?

Learned about this site this week: The Villages Activities (http://www.thevillagesactivities.com)

Great search options for day/date, time, rec center and category of activity. You can also search for links to clubs, and businesses.

Has anyone actually contacted the Daily Sun?

I have never tried, but you usually cannot search a flash.

Too many web developers still use flash. It is difficult to make interactive and it is a space hog. There are plenty of "catalog/magazine" apps that do not require flash. However, they still usually will not allow a search feature.

I agree that this is an experiment that is a fail.

Someone pointed out that u could use Puffin Web Browser to bypass the adobe flash requirement. Well that doesn't work either. So if all of us Apple users want to see the rec news we need to complain to the Daily Sun I guess.

I love The Villages, but from a technology standpoint, they seem to be stuck in the 80's or 90's....sometimes, even earlier.

The Villages Media Group could benefit from hiring a couple 18 year olds to develop their software and apps.

With the new Rec. News software, they have made it easier to use the paper version.

hello memason, you have a way with words, for smirking out loud, and the icon matches my face.
