We've used Stanley Steamer twice in the last 18 months.
Once when we moved in and once after a 4 day visit by relatives with 6 children under 12.
Stanley was reputable, reliable, professional & did a great job.

I used the services of ECO-POWER+ and Scott Brown (352-552-3026). With 23 years of experience and some ultra impressive new hi tech equipment, this owner operator walks the talk. Not only did he restore the newness to our carpets, but we found him to be very knowledgable and helpful. It was the best carpet cleaning job we have ever had.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to you based on the quality workmanship I have observed.

fiddle, would you care to share cost and how many rooms? Maybe we can get a half a dozen TOTV'ers to sign up and get a group discount to boot....Thanks

Alm: I looked in the phone book and there are a bunch of Stanley Steamers. Is it the one in Leesburg that you used? Do you have a telephone number?

Thanks Fiddlemyre, I will contact Scott Brown for a phone quote.

Golfnut: Good idea about a TOTV group discount; I bet that could apply to a lot of things.

Before I moved to TV I had a really bad experience with Stanley Steamer so cannot bring myself to use them again. Beware--they are big with bait and switch.

Hi,

We used Stanley Steamers. We had no problems.

Cost was $248 to clean, deodorize and stain proof the carpet. We have a 1392 square foot Designer Home and everything except the kitchen and bathrooms are carpeted. They even cleaned inside the closets.

We knew what the cost would be before they arrived - competed an on line form

They gave me an estimate on the phone and are coming Monday to clean my carpets. Hope it's the same people Hyacinth used and recommends.

Since they had no problem with Stanley Steamer here I should have kept my mouth shut. It was back in the olden days before we had computers. There was an ad for $99 whole house. I told them that was what I wanted because this was a rental. They came out and kept after me about needing extra treatments. Being young and gullable I gave in to many of the extras. They were so excited that they talked me into more services that they ran into a tree on the way out of my driveway and Never did stop.

Hope, funny story!

Stanley Steamer seemed quite professional on the telephone and gave me a choice of two prices, one for cleaning and another if you choose to add a protective agent. They say they give a guarantee and will return if you're not happy and do it again. I'll post my happiness level on tuesday!

Ditto what fiddlemyre said. Scott did an excellent job and corrected some of the less than professional installation areas left by TV quickie installation. I will have him back and highly recommend his service.

Used Stanley Steamer when I first got here. Was very unhappy. I could have done a better job with my Bissell. I called them back and they did redo it, including moving sofa this time around but I still would not use them again.

I also used SS and wouldn't use them again. They used a "special finish" on my carpet that doubled the price of the job. Instead of repelling dirt, it attracts it. :dontknow:

Get a spray can of Spot Shot and saturate it. Then leave it on for a few minutes and absorb it with an old rag. It will take out any stain and not harm the carpet. You can get it at grocery or Sams Club.

Time for a carpet cleaning. Some use steam, some use chemicals, some use brushes and cleaner. Any advice?

I have used a product for small areas called "Capture". I found at a Home Depot or a Lowe's. It is a dry powder. Simply Pre-Moist with special product that comes either in the box or separate. Sprinkle the dry solution all over and rub in with a brush on a long handle. Wait and vacuum. They also have a dry powder spot remover that comes with a brush, sprinkle, lightly brush and vacuum. The product work awesome on small projects. It keeps the rug from getting wet and does not act like a magnet for soil after cleaning. Have used on almost all spills, stains, accidents by animals and grand children.

Ditto on Steve. We have around 1400 sf of carpet. He did all the carpet, did the tile in the kitchen, and cleaned the upholstery on a sofa, loveseat, and recliner. Total cost was $140. He got out some stains that I thought were permanent.

Best carpet stain remover I have ever used, especially for pets, is "Nature's Miracle" available at PetSmart/PetCo. It removes all stains, all smells. You name it, it removes it. Wonderful stuff.

By the way, we have a wonderful carpet cleaner we are going to sell. It is the kind you can rent at various places. We used it in our home before we moved here just a few times so it is like new, and works well! (we have tile floors here in TV).

It is a Rug Doctor Mighty Pro. Let me know if you are interested! $375.

I bought a Hoover carpet cleaning machine for several hundred dollars some years ago with brushes on the bottom, it does an awesome job and is easy to use. Uses hot water besides the special detergent, once you make a few passes with the detergent and brushes, you go back with the hot water button on, it sucks up all liquid and dirt, you will be amazed how much dirt you will pull out of the carpet yourself.

While getting our house up north ready for sale...we knew we'd need to have the carpet cleaned. We called Stanley Steamer and yes they will try to sell you the "up-grades" on the package. I didn't feel they were particularly over-bearing and stuck with what the ad had said. We were very satisfied. One thing though and they told us this would be the case too...the high-traffic areas that are worn down and have more soil will never look like it did when it is new. I expected that would be the case. Also our carpet was very light and it was obviously clean and brightened after the cleaning.

Down here...Steve's business seems to be a good one to go with by all the reports on here. Will have to remember that!

I used Steve Burstock from Lotto Carpet Cleaning last week ....
He is a delight and does a great job! He does NOT move the big furniture--but, that was okay with me. He only charged $59 and did four rooms!
At that rate--I can have him out again this year! The carpet will wear out before he does--that is FOR SURE!

Based on several favorable comments on this site, we recently used Scott Brown at Eco Power Plus (352-552-3026) and had wonderful results. We've been in our home for two years and have had the carpets cleaned twice before but never with the results we had with Scott Brown. He and his wife, Carla, moved all the furniture and took several hours to do the complete job. They even rolled up and cleaned large area rugs to clean the carpet beneath and then replaced the area rugs. When they finished, the carpet was dry within an hour.

We have two small dogs and had even considered putting in wood or laminate floors. However the carpet now looks like new and replacing the carpets is no longer a consideration for us. In the future we won't use anyone else.

I now need my couch cleaned--does Ecco do that?

We used Eco-Power Plus and was highly satisfied. I previously used a Hoover shampooer to clean up, but my carpets were turning a greyish color, and it seemed the more I shampooed, the sooner I was re-doing. Guess what? The carpet shampoo residue was attracting the dirt. Eco Power Plus also, miraculously, removed most of the stain of "printer ink" which was on the carpet. I never thought that would come out. They do carpet, tile and upholstery cleaning. Also gave us great advice on keeping the carpet clean for longer times.

We used them 1-1/2 years ago, and have not needed the carpet cleaned yet. They said their cleaning should last up to 3 years ! I will only use them in the future.

We used Scott Brown at Eco-Power based on the positive posts we read here. The work was excellent.
The previous owners left all kinds of tape residue on the carpet from an estate sale. The carpets were also very dirty and not soft. We had tried everything we knew to remove the tape adhesive.
Scott and his wife removed all of the tape residue and left the carpet in like new condition. It was clean, soft, and had the loft of a new carpet. We plan on using them again. We felt the price was fair for the quality of the work and the four hours it took to do the job.
They also do carpet stretching, upholstery cleaning, and ceramic tile cleaning.

Again, what method does EccoPower Plus use? Is it steam extraction? Extraction is important to me. Some methods just rub in the dirt with scrubbing machines.

We had a NASTY stain that kept growing as we tried to clean it. We thought, "Oh boy, replace carpet." A neighbor used them to get rid of wheelchair black marks on white carpet. They came in and our stain is gone. They are a young family owned business, licensed, insured and with BBB. # is 753-1516.

We came home to a mess today. Our dog had an accident and the carpeting is not even a month old. Based on several recommendations here on TOTV, (including an endorsement from Red Witch, whom I have always had great trust), we called Steve (Lotto Carpet Cleaning). He came two hours later and life (and our carpet) fortunately is now back to normal. Great job!

Scott and Carla Brown of Eco-Power Plus (352-552-3026) cleaned our carpets today and they did an unbelievable job. Our carpets, which were heavily soiled in traffic patterns, now look brand new again! We previously used a Villager to clean the carpets at a cheaper price but the carpets didn't look this good and they got dirty again very quickly. This duo pre-treated the problem areas and worked on them before starting on the whole carpet.

I join others in this thread who have already sung their praises. There's no question for me. I will ONLY use Eco-Power Plus in the future. They're professional, efficient, and produce great results. They're well worth the price!!

Time for a carpet cleaning. Some use steam, some use chemicals, some use brushes and cleaner. Any advice?

We used Eco-Power Plus (352-552-3026) and were very happy with the results. We bought a resale in The Villages and the carpet was very dirty. They explained why some "cleaned" carpet seems to attract dirt, because there has been soap left in the carpet. They assured us that it would not need cleaning for perhaps 2 or 3 years, with normal care. Club soda is what they said to use to clean stains. They spent half a day working on our entire house, and did a beautiful job.
They are not cheap, but they are pros and know what they are doing. If you want cheap and don't care how long the cleaning lasts, use one of the guys who rents a bubble machine from Home Depot, and arrives in his golf cart. Good luck with that.
I have attached before and after photos. I will post a follow up in a few months, after we have had time to see how the cleaning holds up.
