Congratulations to your granddaughter. She is so beautiful. I can imagine her excitement. I love her painted fingernails wrapped around the fore-stock of her rifle.

Nice picture. I remember trying to hunt at that age but never could get into it all that much. Was more content with plinking cans and the like. Also would have to eat a lot of whatever I shot and never cared much for venison.

I did the same thing at the same age, and cried for days afterward.

Beautiful grand daughter. Vermont gals hunt too.
I think it's bow hunting season right now.
Rifle hunting begins in November........all the guys go up to deer camp.
Neither of our children wanted to hunt as they loved animals too much.
But my husband enjoyed going to deer camp and trudging through the woods in November........
But, it's definitely a tradition in many states......
Thanks for sharing that photo. An exciting time for her.

I can remember hunting with my father. My first deer was such a mix of emotions -- pride and guilt but the pride definitely won out. My dad made me a jacket out of the skin. I wore it for many, many years.
Your granddaughter is absolutely beautiful and her pride certainly shows.

I learned to shoot at a young age and was fairly decent at target practice. But I never was comfortable with killing animals for sport. Just seems we have a huge advantage. Of course, if I were starving or I depended upon hunting to eat, I certainly could do it. I do hope all those who are hunting are eating the meat and not just putting some trophy on the wall.
