I can not help but noticing that the square posts at the beginning of the cart paths are always damaged. Do people do this on purpose. Are they hit by carts or cars or is it vandalism? Maybe the design should be changed like a 4x4 pressure treated wood or a spring at the base so it will bounce back instead of breaking.

It is a litmus test for the driving ability of some in The Villages.

If those who run into it by not looking or by having too many "twofers" at the square would run into the folks coming down the cart path, it would be worse.

I too am constantly amazed at the number of posts that get hit(almost all)! twofers could be some of the problem but can't believe that many people are drunk drivers. Still mostly a mystery to me??

I think that they are designed that way so that no one gets hurt and there is no damage to vehicles. (I almost said golf carts, but figured that vehicles might be more appropriate)

How about a steel post buried in concrete? Should get the wandering cart drivers attention.

We traveled "up north" today from Sanibel to the Polo Fields and found some of the path entrances up there "VERY tight". Don't know if that is the reason or not. As far as I know, we didn't knock any over - but probably came close!!!!!

I think a lot of people just aren't paying attention ..... chatting to friends, talking on cell phones, looking for something in their purse, and misjudge the distance. Have you ever noticed how many golf cart drivers activate a turn signal and leave it on for their entire drive home? There are a lot of distracted golf cart drivers, after all, they're toys doncha know?

A lot of "peeps" treat their carts as toys, not motor vehicles. They drive fast, reckless, and don't obey traffic laws. Probably why so many get a helicopter ride.
