My wife and I made out second visit to the Carriage House facility located behind the Route 466 WalMart. We toured several parts of the facility that we were unable to visit on out first visit.

Folks, I cannot praise this facility and the management enough. This is apartment living at it's finest and is a class act from wall to wall. Every possible amenity has been planned into the Carriage House operation to make those living there to have the best experience possible.

I urge everyone to take the first opportunity to take a tour of this facility and meet the staff. I assure you , it will be a pleasant and rewarding experience. The Carriage House staff will do anything possible to make you and their residents comfortable.:BigApplause::BigApplause::BigApplause ::BigApplause:

Would you still endorse it if you found out that it is owned by the Morse family?

Is this part of the Villages, or just butts up to TV? Being apartments, do they get to use our amenities? My aunt would move here in a heartbeat if TV had Condo's or Apartments. She loves it here, but doesn't want to responsibility of maintaining the upkeep for the outside of a house/villa at her age.

It actually is adjacent to the Villages. It kis important for you to know this is not an assisted living facility !!! Residents actually have autos and golf carts. And as to who owns the facilities, I did not even think about it but do know it is not the developer. I am curious why one would even ask that question. Anyway back to my comment. I am also an E Flyer at least three days every week. The Villages and County have denied access from the Carriage House to the Villages because of various reasons. If a resident has a street legal golf cart, they do have access. The only way a person is going to believe and appreciate this wonderful facility is to personally go for a visit and free meal.
Management welcomes visitors with open arms, call them today for a tour reservation.:a040:

Thanks Warren for the info., she isn't ready for assistant living, just wants out of owning a house and having to fix stuff when it fails (which she has had a lot of lately). She really likes what the villages has to offer, but perhaps you might be interested in the Carriage House setup since it's close and she can visit us. I'll let her know about it. Do you fly at the Polo field, or elsewhere? I'm there usually once, sometimes twice a week.

Usually three or four days weekly. I will be there tomorrow (Wed.) and Thur. I usually park at the North end.

It's disappointing that you can't even get to Walmart on your golf cart from carriage House but it really is very nice.

You can make that trip o WalMart by street legal golf cart. This company tries so hard to make every need possible. The corporation believed they would be granted Villages access only to find the Developer and Coiunty denied that access. So what did the Carriage House owners do ?? Every person who had rented an apartment under the premise of having access had their golf cart made street legal at the expense of the Carriage House owners. Of course they don't do this now but did grandfather in every resident who had the need.:bigbow:

if she rented a villa in TV she would not be responsible for upkeep or repairs, just rent.

There are some "independent living" residents at SumterPlace. Some apparently plan to move next door when the SumterGrand is done. Some plan to stay where they are. Grand comes with Villages amenities, SumterPlace has an option to have amenities (since not everyone can or wants to use pools, rec centers, etc) Food at SumterPlace is outstanding (as I suspect Grand will be).

Disclaimer: While I don't work for SumterPlace, my folks are moving in next week.

The only non buy in independent living in The Villages is Sumter Grand which is being built next door to Sumter Place on 466A. They will have all Villages privileges. It will be ready next year and they are already filling up

It's not the only one. There's Providence Independent Living on the NW corner of 466A and Powell Road.

How common are long term (3-5yrs.) unfurnished rentals here in TV. She wouldn't want the hassle and expense of moving each year. That would be a good option if they are available.

As I look closer at the other places mentioned, they look like one step from assisted living. She is quite independent and still very active. She told me she doesn't need anyone to cook, clean, etc., just doesn't want to own any longer.

The TV has at least three villages that are condos. Three are in Spanish Springs and one in Glenview. There are Condo Dues on top of ammenity fees but there is no Bond.

We live in The Villas Of Spanish Springs (Condos) and it is full of active people.

Would still have to shop, cook and clean unless she hired a caregiver.

Believe there is a significant difference in monthly rent between Sumter Grand and Providence Independent. Is having the amenities which all residents pay about $130-150/month worth about $1000 more per month because it is in TV?.
