So disappointed in the way The Villages mislead ticket buyers for this event! My husband and I bought the Eagle Tickets so according to the map printed in the paper we would be guaranteed seats in the first 3 rows. Not so we arrived to find The Villages had put in seating for 8 or so rows (not sure of the number as we didn't count) for VIP seating which ended up being maybe at most 1/4 filled. The map printed was a blatant lie! The "VIP's apparently paid a lot for special privileges mostly ended up staying in the Polo grounds building meeting the guests of honor and enjoying catered food. All well and good because hopefully most of the money went to the Veterans Organizations. Just upset we were misled!

There were eight rows instead of three and they were only a quarter filled? .

Two unhappy out of 3,000 , that's not too bad.

We also went to the "A Lessons with the Legends". We paid $95 each for our Eagle tickets, but by the time we got to our seats the really "good" seats were taken. We still got to sit one row back from the VIP seats. Yes there were many seats in this section that were empty, but we still got to see most of the action from where we were. It was so hot that day that my husband and I kept having to find some shade away from the seating section. The stars of the show were hard to take pictures of because of the top covering of the tent. It was too dark. Other than that we had a great time and we both learned a lot about our golf game. Afterwards, I got an autograph from Jack Nicklaus and he commented on my turquoise necklace and asked me if I was a Native Indian. I told him yes and that I was Arapaho from the Wind River Reservation. He said it was good to meet me. The event could have been more organized in different areas, but because there were so many people there it was hard to control the flow. I commend all of the volunteers because they did an outstanding job!!!

Make that 4 out of 3000. My son paid $98 each for two tickets in the eagle section so he could take his dad for his birthday. And he, too, was disappointed that the seating he purchased was not "as advertised".

All of the money went to charity, just try remember the positives of that.
The Villages didn't profit from this, just provided them a venue.

Where was this advertised...the paper? Could be that that is what both The Villages and the press was furnished for the seating. Where were the tickets purchased? Could be that The Villages was not involved at all other than renting space for the event.
I know that other venues can rent the Polo Field. We were there at a customer appreciation party on Saturday night hosted by our former Villages Sales rep and he said that he had it for 5 hours (5-10 p.m.). We bought our lot and built in 2003.

And somehow that makes it alright that it was poorly planned?

why is it when someone takes the time to make a post on a subject that there has to be a negative reply right away. They have the right to say how they feel....and then after more postingss it looks like there were more unhappy people with the seating and planning of the event....remember of the "3000" people who attended probably only a handful are on TOTV

Gracie, you read the OP does it sound like a negative agenda? They stated that the MAP did not simulate the tickets they purchased...i would also be upset if I payed that much $$ thinking I would be in the front 3 rows and ended up 8 back. I also live here "full time" for 12 years and I also think that this is the greatest concept for senior living......but ....I do not live with my head buried in the sand. Everything in TV is not perfect and making postings ALL the time that it is does not paint a true picture

Thank you. You see it as they thought they would be in the first three rows and were further back in the first eight rows?
That is all I was trying to figure out.
Then they were misled.
I am wrong.

maybe not true. There may have been others upset that are not on this forum or just choose not to voice their displeasure. I wasn't there, but lets wait until we hear more details.

I was one of the volunteers who stood in the sun for over 4 hours so I can imagine what people felt like walking around in it. However, when you come to an event like this one remember it was at the Polo Fields and most people know that the area has literally no trees by the field other then on the border of the property so they should have been prepared with sunscreen and water. I do admit that there should have been more vendors to accommodate the crowd but there wasn't. It was a good event for what it was to honor the Combat Veterans and to give them the credit of protecting our country and if this money helped that cause more power to it. I couldn't get over how angry people where that couldn't get into the VIP tent, well, they did pay a lot more to be there so they were entitled. There is always a VIP section at most golf events so for the people complaining "Get Over It"

Out of TV---wasn't there but if I was in TV probably wouldn't have gone knowing the event would be hot, little shade and draw a big crowd. We just don't enjoy (our experience) under those circumstances but happy for those that do.
Just hope they raise a lot of money for a good cause. Do you suppose there will be an accounting for how much was raised? Often you never hear.

That was the number attending as reported in the article in the Daily Sun.
My God you ask a lot of questions.

Gracie, you are being asked to get your head out of the sand. And stop with the perfect postings all the time.
