Yes, that was me driving a golf cart down Buena Vista today at around noon. I missed the turn to go around the roundabout and wound up on the main road. I felt pretty stupid getting stares and shaking heads as the cars passed me. When I was finally about to get off the roadway and onto a street leading into one of the villages, we stopped. Thanks to Leo, who was working in the gate shack, he set us on the right path and said he'd seen lots worse! I think this going to take some time to figure out, I also think that we will be signing up for the beginners cart class when we get here full time in January!

You're forgiven!! At least you were on the right side of the road, unlike the cyclist we saw yesterday going the wrong way on one of the golf cart lanes on St. Charles, directly toward a golf cart driver. :o

Just so you know your not the only one who has done that. We did it too on Morse Blvd, and yes we felt kind of dumb also. See you in class.

I did it three years ago. I no longer do it. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

That's one of the reasons I don't drive a golf cart. I probably would be doing it all the time... duh!!! Nice of you to apologize..

It happens sometimes. It is hard to remember WHAT you are driving, since driving is such an ingrained habit.

No need to apologize. Glad to hear that you made it safely to your destination

very smart that you contained on instead of backing up, claiming over a curb, or trying to make a u-turn. all of which a way more dangerous.

Kahuna do not distress. If you get lost -pull over on the car path (safely so others can pass) and pull out a Village Maps -THIS IS THE UNIVERSAL DISTRESS SIGNAL.

I would be surprised if one of Americas Friendliest City residents wouldn't stop to help you out! :crap2:

Besides even when I am on my way Many tell me where to to go!:a20:

Just glad you made it safely off of BV. It's a busy area up by Springdale and cars have a tendency to speed up there. And, have no fear, you'll be zooming around like a champ in no time flat.

yes, we all get absentminded sometimes. i have turned my car onto a golf cart path and then realized that i was not in a golf cart....duh. and almost taken a golf cart through a roundabout....it is easy to forget.
but what about the lady who decided to go thru the liberty park gate off morse, and switched lanes at the last minute and tried to enter on the exit side.......what's up with that?

Yes there are many free orientation clinics for newcomers to the villages. Such as Golf Cart Safety, Golfing the Villages, and others. You should receive information on these at closing, particularly if closing is handled bt The Villages. Some may just blow them off, assuming they already know all they need to know, but they really do present useful information.
I don't remember how to obtain info on these, but perhaps another poster can remind us how to do it.

We closed last week and did not receive any Golf Cart Safety information. I will call the closing office and inquire if they will send that information. I'm very interested in taking the orientation class.

One thing I found rather odd is on the LSV the agent just handed us the keys and gave basic information on driving the golf cart. She never mentioned staying on gold cart paths, how to access them or the tunnels. We didn't know about the golf paths until we saw them on the other side of the Morse Blvd.

Hi, glad you got back on the path safely. I see that you once lived in Toledo. We are from Maumee. Welcome to The Villages!
