Pergola fan question

We are having a small pergola installed over our patio adjacent to our liani. We will use the area mostly for grilling, which we do all year. We are planning to put lights in the area because it is just large enough to need them. The contractor offers an all weather fan with light as well. Do any of you have a fan in your pergola or feel that one would be/is useful. The Hubster and I are somewhat in disagreement on this issue. Thanks.

We also had a large pergola installed by the Pergola Kings, and love the look and added shade. The cost for a fan seemed out of the question, as well as the need.
At 6'2" tall I also didn't feel comfortable having it that close to me. If it gets too hot out there, I will go back inside. good luck with yours and enjoy

Never had a Pergola but thought about one. Does it actually provide much shade? I've also seen them in TV with what looks like a top (Canvas maybe) over them. Outside why would you need a fan? Many are attractive.

If I had a table on the patio with a pergola I wouldn't hesitate to put a fan in. It will circulate air when it's hot and keep bugs away from your food.
