We will be moving to TV in early December and I am getting estimates from long distance movers. For those from the Boston area, we've used Gentle Giant before for a local move and they were very good. However, that was over 8 years ago and I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling about them for this long distance move. We have Clark & Reid coming to give us an estimate on Friday, but I would like to get a couple more quotes.

For anyone who moved from the Boston, or central MA area, did you have a great mover? If so, I would love to hear who it was.

Thanks.

We moved here from Massachusetts but we didn't use a mover. We used a POD. Wanted to say welcome to TV.

I can remember packing up my father and his wife for their move from Worcester to The Villages. He purchased a new villa in Poincianna and along with it he purchased new furniture, linens, pots, pans and decorations. We agreed that our "northern" style of furniture would not go in the new house. He was able to downsize so much that a couple of car loads of belongings was all they needed. I later shipped some personal belongings to them.

We used Suddath Movers. They are the only one that we found that is right in The Villages. We needed to put our stuff into storage for one month. They were very easy to work with, and our move, then storage, then delivery all went well.

I moved my self from Ma. All the furniture that fit in up north, just isn't florida. Have a Garage sale, and buy new here, you won't regret it.

We used 1-800-PackRat. They are like a POD but less expensive. We came from Cape Cod. 16ft of space in the unit. We hired men here to unload for us. Worked out great.

Please do not use Father and Son. We found them in a Springfield, MA phone book. We got several quotes and they were all in the same range. We went with them because they could get our furniture to FLorida when we needed it there. That didn't happen. It was an extremely stressful situation for us. The owners have numerous moving companies under different names. We hired an attorney to help us with a case against them but sadly she died. Good luck with your journey.

We used "Isaac's Moving and Storage" to move from Walpole, MA to the Villages in 2011. They did a complete pack and nothing was damaged and we were very pleased with the overall service and their price was as reasonable as the others that we obtained estimates from.

The sales person that we worked with was Daniel Smith.
Good luck with your move.

Thanks for all the replies and the welcomes to TV. We are getting rid of a lot of furniture, but not everything, so we will definitely need a mover.

YEAH SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would not rely on the mover's estimates. We got about three and they were all about the same. Then we moved only to find out the cost was almost twice the estimate. I would go with containers like PODS where you pay for the space not the weight. We were very lucky in that we did not have anything damaged, because we found out after the fact that the insurance is worthless.
