I work for a storage company in Lady Lake, and have seen nothing but heartache for those using a small moving company that goes by "Little John's Movers". I don't normally say bad things about anyone or any company, but in this situation I feel it necessary. Caveat Emptor. (Let the buyer beware). He goes by other names as well but is mostly known by this name. I can tell you from my customer's standpoint, he packed stuff for someone in their furniture - not in boxes as expected. Cement statues were placed on top of wooden cabinetry, with no blankets; artwork was put on the cement floor with no blankets. Boxes were stacked onto soft couches, leaning into a leg of a table that if one didn't look closely, the boxes would fall to the floor. A Temperpedic bed was ripped to shreds and put into the unit. Large Foot prints on the arm of a material couch from the mover standing on the furniture to place boxes higher in the unit.
In the past he has also claimed to be able to move someone in an afternoon. For a Very Large unit, they bring one of their smaller vehicles and then state that they had to use the truck more times than they thought which in turn takes more time than they thought so you are charged time and truckload and it took two days to move two 10x30 units. I know of other movers who can do this in a day AND bring the right sized vehicle AND bring the right number of moving people who care about your belongings because they care about their jobs and the company's reputation.
If his people were more professional about their work and actually cared about their customers and the company's reputation, none this would have been stated. I do not wish to pass bad judgement about anyone. Just reporting what I have seen with my own eyes, or been discussed with my clients and their dealings.
FYI - moving insurance covers by the POUND, not the replacement or repair cost for the item damaged.:(
