There appears to be a few options to remove heat from your garage, vents in garage door, solar powered vents, etc. Looking for some results from those whom have installed some of these options and if they were effective. Thanks.

We have a CYV with a west facing garage door. The garage seemed like an oven at times during the afternoon when the sun was blasting away at our home. The door is a basic aluminum door with no insulation and the radiant heat that was coming into the garage was intense at times. Raising the door approx. a foot and having a small fan running to pump the heat outside helped some.

I decided to purchase six 4' x 8' by 3/4" thick Styrofoam panels from Lowes and insulate the door myself. A sharp razor knife and a straightedge (4' level) to cut the panels to fit between the door and the horizontal braces was an easy DIY project. To install, just cut to fit and remove the braces for installation of the form and re-install the braces back. It is a snug fit and the braces keep everything in place. Total cost for materials around $75.00 and approx. 2-3 hours to install working at a relaxed pace.

Noticed almost immediately that the garage seemed cooler and the door was not as noisy opening and closing.
