Greetings... we have a Lantana model house where the front faces in SW direction. The living area (dining room, family room) seems a little dark during the day.
Has anyone out there had a solartube installed in the dining room, living room, or kitchen to brighten up these areas? Any considerations to be aware of?
Thanks...007

We had a couple of solar tubes installed in our livingroom & dining area. Brightened the place up considerably. So far no problems with the installations. The instalations were done by one guy in about 3 hours. Fantastic service

We had a 22-inch solartube (can't recall the brand, but it wasn't SolaTube) in our house in Michigan. The exterior dome has a southwest exposure. It works great in brightening a dark part of the house. We had a light installed in the tube in order to be able to use it at night as a light fixture, but we seldom use that feature. One manufacturer has a louvre system inside the tube that permits you to control the amount of light coming down the tube. That might be handy. I was concerned about the transmission of heat, but that turned out to be inconsequential.
My daughter-in-law, when she first saw the tube, stood under it's cone of light and said, "Beam me up, Scotty."

We have a Jasmine and put in a large solar tube above the kitchen sink which also lights up the dining room area. Solar tubes actually put out quite a lot of light. We also put a small one in the guest bath, what a difference. We used The Solar Guys and were very happy with their work.

I really like the light a solartube provides but can anyone tell me if they ever leak? I'm so afraid to have anyone cut a hole in my roof.
