I'm not sure I'm allowed to post this here but I'll give it a shot. If I can't, moderator feel free to delete.
Played Candler Hills and Stone Creek the last couple of weeks. Both are in tremendous shape and QUITE challenging. If you want to push the limit on distance, these are perfect. One of the par 5s on CH is 670 yards from the back tees. Geesh.... I believe you can play SC right now for $25 and they even throw in one beverage from the bev cart!
Highly recommend making the drive.

The owners of this forum and the moderators have no connection to Sumter INC. or the folks who own the courses.
Most of us play off campus too. I don't see anything that would offend anyone.

If you want a great off property course try Juliette Falls. Played there for the 1st time last week and we are going back next week. Course is in very good condition and rate is about $38 now. Well worth the one hour drive.

My husband and I play Baseline and Lake Diamond outside of Ocala. They don't take tee times at Baseline, but it is a great course and very well maintained. The cost I believe is under $30. Also Ocala Golf course is nice also. Don't remember the green fees???

OP, thanks for the information. Most of us don't play from the back tees but I have a son and grandson who might enjoy these courses when they come to visit. They are young and pretty good golfers.
USGA has been pushing "forward tees" concept this year---which I say is a very good thing. First, it can speed up your play and second (seniors especially) and others have move fun. But if you can play from the back tees and shoot 80 or lower----let it happen. If not, USGA encourages you to move forward.

When I moved here in 2011 I played the white tees at Cane Garden and shot an 80 the first time I saw the course. Back in Maryland I usually shot between 88 - 92. I've since moved to the blue tees, which at most courses in TV are about 6200 yards. That is about equal to most off campus white tees.
So when playing in TV and off campus be aware of the yardage. Now I've gotten to where I've broken 80 five times from the blue tees, but average in the mid 80's normally.
