Bonus points are given for a players willingness to be flexible with their starting times. so chances are you played later in the day

They start with 100 points...for every stroke you take in a game that day they subtract one..that explains the -2 :)

That rule would work about 90% of all golfers in America.

New to the villages ..What are points?

Points are awarded for play/reservations on TV courses. Two points are awarded if you cancel a reservation, three points if you cancel on the day of play. Priority for golf reservations is determined by the number of points a player/group has. The more points, the lower the priority for a reservation. More information at Good Golf School.

Bonus Points
Bonus points are given as an incentive to encourage and reward
residents for being flexible in their tee time request. Once you are
awarded a tee time, for every hour away from your preferred tee
time, you will be awarded one-tenth (.10) of a point and it will
be deducted from your play point. For example, if your preferred
time is 8:00, and you receive a 10:00 tee time, you will receive .2
bonus points and only receive .8 points for that tee time instead
of a full poin
