Ciao!! I see on some back lanais an (obviously) all weather lamp. Some have several white globes, some not, and they all look to be black. Any idea what I'm talking about (don't go there :) ), and where they come from? I have checked everything I can think of, and I get "outdoor lamp heaters", solar lights for railing posts...everything except what I'm seeing. I'd love to have one for my patio next to my covered lanai. I kinda feel bad letting my husband grill out there in the dark. (NOT!) Any help??

I went nuts looking for a lamp that would be safe to use on the lanai. Some were $300 or more. Finally I found a young clerk at Lowes who showed me an ordinary looking floor lamp and said he'd had one on his lanai for 5 years and it was fine. I bought one for about $30 and it's been fine for 4 years. Of course I get very little rain water in my lanai; if you do, it might not be such a good idea. The lanai has a ceiling light but it's way too bright.

Thanks, but these are actually outside, in the weather, not under cover. I tried Frontgate, Solutions, Overstock, anything I could think of. But, as you say, they may be in the hundreds, in which case, hubby will have to keep that flashlight out there after all!! Thanks for responding!
Try a patio furniture shop. I know what you're talking about...there is a house on one of our village roads that has three on the lanai. For some reason I can't find a picture.
You could have a dimmer installed for the overhead lights, might help with the brightness issue.

Hi Denise, we just got a lamp for our birdcage outside, really cool and looks just like a house lamp. See the link attached here. Got it from Plow and Hearth, Only $99.95. All-Weather Outdoor Rattan Wicker Lamps - Plow & Hearth (http://www.plowhearth.com/all-weather-outdoor-rattan-wicker-floor-lamp_p2262.html)
Here at Lowes Trans Globe Lighting 4995 BK 3 Light Beveled Pole Lantern, bit pricer, home depot also carries a variety. Search for outdoor patio lamps and you will see a lot of selections in all price ranges. You can also have an electrician set you up with a light on side of house that you switch on by grill if there is an electrical outlet close by.

Good idea! I'll look one up. :) Our lanai lights don't light up the side slab enough. We had it extended to the end of the house, put up a railing and have a retractable awning out there. Just want a floor lamp type thing out there by the grill area. Need something we can turn on and off, because our bedroom is off that side, so alot of those solar things won't work. Maybe I'll just hafta go knock on someone's door when next I see one.

THANKS SO MUCH, EVERYONE! I'm not sure what I wasn't wording correctly, but all your suggestions did the trick. At least I have some to look at now, and can get one ordered.
