I've been waiting for this day since we first visited a little over a year ago, and it finally happened! We're officially Villagers--and we have the i.d. cards and golf cart to prove it! :gc: We closed on our house on 11/6 and moved in the next day.
We're just about all moved in--although we're still waiting for living room and dining room furniture to be delivered and we have boxes in the garage still needing to be unpacked, but we're here and living the dream!
Our move was made much easier by the help and advice on these boards. Before we even arrived, we knew where to shop, where to kennel our dog, the pros and cons of just about every style home, and a whole list of other things. Whenever I had a question, I just popped in here and did a search. Thank you to everyone on these boards for sharing your knowledge. I'm hoping that I'll be able to join in occasionally with a little advice of my own from time to time.
It's great to finally be official Villagers. We're hoping to meet some of you in person one day soon!

Congratulations! I know envy is ugly, but I am pretty "green" reading your post. :) We closed on our home in Collier in September. We will not be retiring for a while, but my mother will be moving into our home this week. I just know she is going to love the Villages! We will be down next weekend to visit for a couple weeks.
I agree, TOTV is so helpful with planning! Looking forward to meeting some of our neighbors and making new friends - even if we will only be "visitors" for a while.

Congrats on your new home. Best wishes as you start living the dreAM.
For all the wannabe's, hang in there, it will happen.
P.S. - Do yourself's a favor by not trying to get everything done in a week. It can be very exhausting so take your time and enjoy.

Welcome to The Villages! I will ditto everyone's nice words and especially the advise of 2BNTV. Relax and take it one day at a time getting everything done. Enjoy yourselves. That goes to all the new homeowners who posted here. Have fun and make good memories.

Congrats... the best is yet to come.
However... you are not Village People. You are Villagers.
Unless you perform the song, YMCA.

Congratulations on becoming Villagers! This place is just like an adult Disney World.

LOL! I know that. I even mentioned the correct term later in my post.
"Village People" is what some friends back up north were calling us before we left. My husband reads the board occasionally, and the title was so that he and those friends would know I started the thread. :D
Then again, I do know the YMCA dance thingy, so maybe I DID use the right phrase the first time!
LynnDeb, we're in Charlotte.
2BNTV - Those are some very wise words, and the best advice to give anyone. We were exhausted after the first day and decided, after our fifteenth argument of the day, to stop and just take our time. We have the basics unpacked and/or purchased. The rest can wait.

Congratulations. It took us a few trips before we bought. After your move in 'chores', head down to the John Parker Bridge with a couple glasses of wine and toast the Florida sunset. Aaahh, seven weeks and that's what we'll be doing.
