BEWARE Home Depot will now charge you a dollar for every item you return. Just made a purchase and when looking at receipt, notice they have a refund value of each item.

also......
When I bought a new Anderson storm door the clerk said that if I didn't pay to have the door measured by their people, I ran the risk of a 50.00 charge if the door size was wrong and it needed to be exchanged..... the door was an 'in stock" door!
It took forever to have the installer call me..... The charge was 100.00! (I would have thought they would want to put it in earlier.... but...since I paid at the time of purchase, I was at their mercy.....

..just returned something yesterday, 09 Nov...
......they did not charge a return fee.

Did you perhaps purchase the Item using your
HOME DEPOT Credit Card ???....
....if so...they GAVE you a 5 % discount at point of purchase.

When I return an item ...they only show the RETURN Value...
..........................which is the NET price that was actually paid.

At least that is how it works for me.

If Ho Do is now ( 10-Nov) charging a $ to return things.....
....that should make Lowe's very happy.

Like most stores, if you return after 30 days, you do not get the sales tax returned.

I read the above document and it appears there is a "restocking" charge for special orders.

What did you return? Was it something like paint that was mixed to a color you wanted?

Did you call or return to the store to ask about this? I would have wanted clarification before posting here.

Guess it is safe to say yet again, don't believe everything you read.

I would not think this is so. Can you attach a receipt? I would like to see this.

A $1.00 restocking fee doesn't sound like a "break-the-bank" situation. Restocking DOES cost a store $ in labor costs, or $ loss for putting the item on a "sale" discount table.

I know of some restocking fees a whole lot more than $1.00.

In relative terms, $1.00 is a bargain.
