First step is to write your representatives ( the term staggers me at times) stating your objection due to health saftey, US poultry jobs, another bad deal for America's people, etc.
Secondly if it passes, which it may well do for all the wrong reasons, none of which include the well being of we the people, then boycott or what ever you want to call it as long as one does not buy it.
I absolutely refuse to purchase any food products from China.
China does not have to go to war to conquer the USA....all it has to do is work with big business and Washington DC.
What would we do if they ever threatened to stop sport shoe production?:jester:

Where do you think all the "farm raised" fish and shrimp comes from?
Our "American" corporations moved their operations over there to save themselves money and avoid regulatory hassles.
Welcome to globalism...

I try to read the labels and not buy food from China but sometimes it is hard to figure out if it was actually imported from China by a California company or made here or there..
Scary & Sad the way our government is "run" by the very same corporations that have moved operations overseas.

For me the lable has to say product of USA or made in USA.
If it only staes distributed by (which many do) I will not make the purchase until I call to find out where the product is "distributed" from. I find that over half the products are not from the USA.
Yes it means I go without on some items but so be it. It either goes through my toll gate criteria or it does not....no gray!!

Heard this story this morning. I was wondering if I was the only one that thought this was a bad idea.
I agree with others here. I try to look at labels. Most recently on dog treats. It's really difficult to determine. btw, I appreciate your dedication.
You'd like to think we could get back to sending the best of the best to Washington again. But I'm of the opinion that we are only sending the slickest self serving individuals that have no other career options. I just shake my head at what goes on there. Talk about the fox watching the hen house. So corrupt….argh!!! I'm way off topic so will leave it here.

These clowns we send to Washington give used car salesmen a bad name. Ok I feel better getting that off my chest.

I believe the deal was made somehow to support export of more American beef to China. What galls me is we are spending millions to USDA inspectors but now are importing food from China. We are losing control of our food supply.

It is difficult to determine as I'm now told that Made in USA does not assure us that the ingredients came from USA! I don't know how to determine the origin of the ingredients!

This may shed a little more light on the subject:

Stay away from bar code numbers 690-695
That's my 2 cents.

I does somewhat, but I advise to read the whole article on Snopes. Apparently the country code numbers are not all that reliable.
Unfortunately, determination of product origins for American consumers isn't quite as cut and dried as it's been made to sound here. First of all, the two- or three-digit country codes referenced above are incorporated into the European Article Number (EAN-13) bar code standard, but not into the UPC-A bar code which is most commonly used in the U.S. Moreover, what those EAN-13 country codes indicate is the country or economic region where a particular bar code was assigned, not necessarily the country where the product identified by that bar code was made:

BUT: It's a start. Thanks for the link, Sparky.
