We are going to be replacing our mulch with River Rock so I got 2 estimates. They was over $1200 difference between the 2 companies. Needless to say, knowing nothing about this I am looking for 2 more estimates. Can someone make some recommendations as to who to call. We want the old mulch removed, grass stripped out, sprayed, then weed guard placed completely throughout the beds and then the rocks installed. It should take about 8 tons of rock or about 5-6 yards.
Thanks for any help.

Let me suggest you call and/or visit "Dirt Cheep" on Hwy 441 north of Hwy 42 before Marion Market (352-245-7900) as they have one of the largest selection of landscape stones. You can get the cost of the stones to help compare the cost of this part of your project from each vendor. You might decide on different stones after seeing the very large selection. I would then look at landscapers who advertise on TOTV's to get a few more quotes.

Thanks for the post. I was at both Dirt Cheap and Southern Aggregates (nest to Edwin Watts) so we have the rock style picked out and that is where I got the names of 2 landscape companies but for some reason there is a wild difference in price so all I can do is get a 3rd and 4th estimate. Not looking for the lowest cost but want to make sure the job is done right the first time.

Be sure to check with Seniors Against Crime or whatever it is called for previous problems. Someone will correct me if this is not the correct name and hopefully post a phone number. Buyer Beware.

I just did the same thing to our villa 2 weeks ago. I got 6 tons of river rock from dirt cheap @ $82 a ton. I Rented a truck and sod cutter from home depot for 4 hours. Then spent the next couple of days putting down weed barrier and shoveling stone.

that's amazing in the 80's river rock was 13$ a ton I know everything costs more to day but I didn't realize the cost of growing a stone had gone up so much

We found Village Landscapers reasonable and worth getting an estimate from. Here is their phone #: 352-250-1365 .

Rupert Cross and his crew are very good at this kind of work and quite reasonable. You can reach him at 352/406-8814.
