I always went to tire choice on wedgewood for oil changes and they always found other things that needed repair, fluids, filter etc. Last time they came up with $700.00 worth of repairs but I said I had to time and would check back. A friend I golf with recommended accu-tech automotive on 301, just a left turn off 466.. he looked it over and said I needed 1 filter for $30.00. He said he has gotten so much business from the tire places who come to him for a second opinion. it is just a husband and wife operation with 2 bays. phone is 352-748-1500. name is bobby bowser

My experience along with others I have known will tell you that most of these tire stores are rip offs trying to jack up the bill you pay. I would also question the mechanics that work for them that seem to get paid on a commission which encourages recommending things you don't need. They like to use scare tactics that make some afraid to drive the car.

You must be strong and stay focused when dealing with the tire places. I agree with the previous poster in that the guys in the bay work on commission and will always try to tell you that something is wrong. I always tell them thanks, and that I will take it to my regular mechanic. I am here just for the tires, or the alignment.

I've been using Wildwood Auto & Recking on 301 just south of 44. Wayne, the owner is fair and his mechanics are very good. By the way, Sumter County uses them for work on their vehicles. 352-748-1716.

I've heard good things about Accu-Tech on 301 and Michael's Auto Repair on just off of 466A near 441. I've been to Michael's and found him to be competent. They also offer rides to customers if you are not far away.

I had occasion to use Michael's last year when my battery died. I was going home the next day and needed my car. He was so darn nice, got the battery quickly and charged a reasonable fee. I felt like I wasn't being ripped off. His number is 352-365-2955. His exact address is 307 N. Villa Ave., Fruitland Park. I'm so glad I kept his business card so I can pass along my positive experience.
