Can anyone recommend a good lawyer to update our wills from another state? There are so many giving presentations and free consultations, it is hard to choose.

Arlene Udick, 352-391-1888
She is a very experienced attorney specializing in estate and business law. She is also honest, efficient and very reasonable. In our case she registered our property with an inexpensive "ladybird deed" to protect it from probate. She could have done a more expensive trust but told us "many trusts are initiated by lawyers who want to collect higher fees".

One add-on question.
If a person has a will in another state or country (Canada) which lists their FL property and contents as an asset, do they also need a will prepared for Florida to avoid probate?

Wills do not avoid probate. Trusts are used to avoid probate

I'm a snow bird from Wis. 5 1/2 mo. there & a Fl. resident for 6 1/2 mo. I have a Wis. trust; do I have to have it redone since I am now a Fl. RESIDENT?
Any retired lawyers out there with advise on this matter?

Call Arlene Udick. Unless things are more complicated than presented here, I believe she will give you the answer over the phone.

Another vote for Susan Sullivan. She'll only do what is needed and if yours is OK she'll tell you. Not out to take you over the coals.

I am retired Judge and former lawyer from Wisconsin. I think it prudent to have all of your estate plan documents from Wisconsin reviewed for compliance with Florida law.

Where is the first vote? Contact info?
Post #3 by Mac gives Susan Sullivan's contact info, 352 689-0045.
Another vote cast for Susan Sullivan...professional, extremely knowledgeable and asked us what we would prefer in certain circumstances that never even occurred to us but were right on target if you're doing your last wishes. We were very satisfied and have referred her to many.

Another vote for Susan Sullivan. She did all our family's documents and we continually use her for any legal needs. Thankfully, that's not very often!

I would recommend Amy Pittman of the Pittman Law Group. Very knowledgeable young lady, specializes in wills, trusts, and elder law. Her office is right off of 466 by BB&T bank. Her phone number is in the Villages phone book.
She charges about $1200 for setting up a trust with notifications to all institutions and deed changes.

We used Mary Trotter to do a Revocable Trust which we have her review periodically. She is well versed in issues regarding the elderly and serves on various State Committees involve the elderly.
She has my vote of confidence.

Susan Sullivan. My husband is a retired attorney and asked a lot of questions before he told her he was an attorney. He was pleased with her answers and her work. The cost was reasonable and varies with what you need done. Take your current documents and she will tell you what is needed.

Mary Trotter is another good attorney who specializes in elder care law. She did our trusts a few years back and we found her knowledge helped us greatly. She's on Wedgewood Dr. near Southern Trace Shopping center.
