In certain parts of The Villages water is used from retention ponds to water the lawn.

It is metered separately, and it is not potable water. It comes from the water hazards on the golf courses, and it is supplemented with untreated well water.

I believe you are billed for sewage on potable and not so on non-potable.

Just curious as to why it cost almost as much per gal. as the potable (treated drinking water)? Seems like it should be much less, but it's not.

People complain about the water bill but it is all relative. Ours was more in Ohio. Our area's water was more expensive than Arizona, but it built some great big buildings and bought some phenomenal sculpture at the county seat, and maybe helped the economy in other ways too.:yuck:

On your water/sewer bill, you are billed for your sewer based on the amount of water you use. By metering your irrigation water separately, you are given a break. Otherwise, your sewer portion of your bill would be equal to the total amount of water you use; both the household usage and irrigation usage.

Most localities can't meter sewerage and customers are billed at the same rate for their sewer as they are for their water.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for the information we pay a lot here in NJ for water . Thee sewage bill is higher then the actual water bill but we have a large home but only to two of us using water with no pool or irrigation system. Just another reason we are headed to the villages .

TV is cheaper to live, especially, if one is from the northeast. I was a CT condo owner, and the condo taxes were autrocious, for what one had. They also had a property tax levied on your car but digress..... :smiley:

I thought the way they did it in Tucson, AZ was pretty clever! One bill for water covered both domestic water and irrigation water. Sewer fee was based on water usage during the time of year when one used the least water for irrigation. They took Jan, Feb and March water usage, and averaged the 3 months...the sewer bill for the following 12 months was based on that uasge. If you had an exceptionally large bill one of those months, say for filling a pool, they would exempt that from the average. Your sewer portion of the bill stayed the same for an entire year. Quite smart actually.

I question the billing methods TV utilizes for water. First it is fair that TV meters household water vis a vis irrigation water separately. for those areas where it is one bill most likely has to do with the fact that fresh water is used both inside and outside.

Since irrigation water on the south side is non portable it should be at a reduced price.

What disturbs me the most is TV three tier billing, especially in view of the fact that they also charge a base fee. In addition there are other charges also that simply amount to gouging in my view.

Florida demands water conservation but it hasn't stopped politician from allowing developers to over build nor did they object to Nestle from drawing millions of gallons of water a day just to be carted outside of florida to be bottled. It is all hypocrisy.

Perhaps for some their TV water bill is less than their previous residence but then it only makes it easier for Florida politicians to pull the wool over people's eyes The water utilities are tightly held by politicians and hence developers.

As for Florida's sunshine Laws in my view there are two meeting the one for show and then the real meeting for dough
