We purchased a new home in August in Hillsbourgh. We hired Empty Nest to watch and take care of our home. It had came to our attention that the phone book was sitting in our driveway for over two weeks. We were notified by some friends who did a drive by to see how the house looked.
I notified some residents in our neighborhood who said it was almost 3 weeks since they were delivered. When contacting Empty Nest to find out what was going on we found our contact person had a family emergency out of state. We asked for a bill and were charged for a visit ever week ?????
It is a shame you trust someone to do their job, and they charge you for something not done. Needless to say we have fired them and hired someone else who will send pictures when they are there. BEWARE we are learning the hard way!!!

We are part timers in TV for over a year now. We use Charlene from The Village Sitter. She and her husband Steve are great. He is also one of the TV security worker so it makes us feel safe. They go above and beyond. She even comes to our house on different times to meet workers we hire and keep an eye on them. Charlene texts us pictures of things she finds while there, like weeds and ants so we can call the people we need to take care of the problems. We consider them our friends not just someone who we trust our new home to.
Charlene is a member of TOTV and goes by the name of Phanatic Luvr. I recommend you speak with her.

I have a Patio home and had asimilar situation with another home watch. I use charelene from the Village sitter. I couldn't ask for better service. She sends a monthly report telling when she visited and what was done. She also sends pics of anytHing questionable and has been very professional. She is insured and bonded which was important to me also. Now I go by referrals for services I need.

Charlene and Steve are both totally trustworthy and responsible. They watched our home for a year before we moved here as well as kept an eye on all our contractors, sent pictures, let us know when things did not look right. Once she called and told me that the plastic was removed from our new furniture which was delivered. The contractor was getting annoyed that Charlene was so on top of things so he looked in her car to see if she took the plastic just to complain to us! It turned out his own painter took the plastic off to use on the floor while he was painting a ceiling because he did not have a drop cloth. The contractor had to go buy plastic and recover our furniture. Always on top of everything Charlene is, pictures, texts, phone calls, you can trust her with anything and we do!

Another vote for Charlene, she went above and beyond, even sending us pictures when our furniture was delivered and blinds were installed. We have sought her advice on numerous subjects and find her very helpful.

Here's another trick:
I have Frontpoint Security installed in my home in The Villages. I've got it set up so that Affordable Homewatch has its own access code to disarm the security system, different from mine. When they enter my home, they must disarm the system with their personal code and I get a text message and an email telling me that they have entered the house, and another telling me that they have disarmed and then rearmed the system. Thus I know exactly how often, and exactly when they visit my home. Thank goodness Affordable Homewatch never misses a week, but if they do, I'll know it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I thought they were a trusted service. I also wonder why one of your neighbors didn't pick up your phone book for you. In our neighborhood everyone watches each other's home and picks up anything left in the driveway or visible outside the door.

As new, part-time villagers, we understand the importance of having complete trust in your homewatch service. We have been using Hart 2 Hart Homewatch service. Gene and Mickie are great people. Extremely dependable. They are also insured and bonded. Give them a call at (352) 643-0513. They are Village residents. You won't be disappointed.

Empty Nest watched our home for almost a year and we were very happy with their service. Our home watcher was very thorough and had frequent conversations with my husband regarding our home. It's hard leaving your home in someone else's hands and I'm sorry that you had a bad experience.

I also used Mary and Ed Edwards of Safe Home Watch. They are very conscientious. I was always able to reach Mary by phone and she provided me regular updates on the state of my house. Ed also drove my golf cart periodically to make sure it did not sit idle for too long. In addition, whenever I visited my house they left me very detailed instructions on how to prepare the house in order to minimize problems while I was away for months.
Mary and Ed can be reached at: 352-603-5333. SAFE HOME WATCH SERVICE* - Home (http://www.safehomewatch.weebly.com) I highly recommend them.
