Prospecting in GA

Where's a good place to take my boys hunting for gold and gyms. A place you have personally been in GA. They saw a program on the Weather Channel and have been digging up the back yard looking for arrow heads since I told them that's all they'll find here.

I would prefer a place that doesn't just bring you a bucket of dirt. They want to dig for them themselves. What's the best time of year for this?

you won't find anywhere that the dirt is not already separated out into bags for you to search. You should look around the Dalonaga area of Ga. However, I Highly recommend the Gem museum in Franklin NC if you are in the area. It's not far across the border and you can stop at Dillard House for a nice lunch on the way.
