With Christmas just around the corner, what was your favorite toy and is that toy still around today? Mine was a magnetic Old King Cole puzzle. That keep me occupied for a long time. Of course, as a little girl my dollies were pretty special too.

One Christmas, my father had an engineer friend build my little brother and I a two seater go ****. This was before the word go **** was invented. We called it the little car. Maintaining that little vehicle turned me into a lifelong gearhead.

As a little boy, dollies were my favorite too............oops too much information:a040:
On second thoughts, I remember getting a magic set with all kinds of neat tricks. It kept me amused for days.

We were so poor we had to make our own toys for Christmas. My friends and I would go to the tire shops and get the inner tires from large truck wheels. We then scrounged around for pieces of wood . With those materials we would cut out rings which resembled large rubber bands and construct what we termed rubber guns. Boy did they sting:pepper2:

Ladies and gentlemen, I sincerely apologize for attempting to use the word "go k.a.r.t." Now, as my family bears the shame I have brought upon them, I shall wear wool underclothing for seven years and a day as penance.

When I was in the hospital with polio in 1942 I got a dart bombing game. The plane was a horizontal box with a mirror on the end and a mirror in the middle which allowed you to see the dartboard on the floor. The dartboard looked like a city. The plane contained 4 darts. You would drop these darts like bombs on the board. I haven't been able to find this game anywhere.

My favorite toy was a Barbie doll, of course. And yes, I do still have her, with all her clothes in her own little case! I pierced her ears because my mom wouldn't let me have pierced ears until I was 13. I also had a Skipper doll, Barbie's sister. During a move, I believe one of the movers stole her out of her case.

My favorite toy was an erector set (standing by for comments from the peanut gallery :D) and my favorite project was the motorized Ferris Wheel. The kit kept me busy for hours!

My favorite toy was (anything cowboys) a two gun holster set and a Daisy air rifle (no kidding). Other than that, it was a Walt Disney book called The Adventures of Mr. Toad, otherwise known as Wind In the Willows.

My mom waited 2 years on a list to get me a doll and doll carriage because it was during the war. It was stollen from my backyard a week later when I went in the house for lunch. Never was lucky enough to receive another one.

They were really my cousins, but I so loved them. It was a set of wooden building bricks, kind of like Legos but much smaller and much, much better. I'd build all kinds of houses with them. I was so sad when I found out my aunt had given them away. I would so love to have had them. Have been looking for them for over 20 years but can't find anything close.

My favorite toy was a Ginny Doll with a small pink trunk full of clothes, some of which my mom had made. Still remember all these years later. Great question.

Winters are 6 months long in Minnesota so we needed to use lots of imagination, my favorite were Lincoln Logs. My brother and I were lucky to have gotten a couple large sets so we were able to build rather elaborate cabins, farms, and forts. When I had my own son, he got Lincoln Logs, Legos, Erector set .....he is now an architect. Not sure if I enjoyed playing more as a child or with my own child.

I would say it was a Tonka truck that was made out of metal, remember?
I also would say that trains were a close second, Again, they were made of metal.
My brother bought the same Tonka truck toy, for his son, (my nephew), and figured he couln't destroy it. Well my nephew threw it off the balconey, from the third floor. End of story, and toy.

My favorite toys were a Pogostick and stilts. We made the stilts ourselves and we had one pair that was as high as the ones they use here. What fun !!!

To keep it going and not drop down to the ground, it would be helpful if you were a bit hippie.
My parents bought me a little black baby doll when I was a very little girl. I pretended with her for years (we didn't grow up so fast back then) and she was my favorite "baby". I wish I still had her. I got the chicken pox when I was just 6 years old. To make me feel better about it, my parents got me a Zippy Doll and using lipstick or nail polish put little pox marks all over its face. I still have the doll today sitting on my BR dresser, pox and all. I have no intention on selling it, but I do wonder just how valuable the 60 year old Zippy doll might or might not be today.

The only doll I cared for was a rag doll named Miss Lucy. Unfortunately I left her in he yard and the dog ate her.
My favorite toy was a fully-equipped tool box that I asked for and got when I was 8.
