I am anticipating it to be cold when I get off and it is a little chilly here today so I am wearing some warm clothes. Do they keep the train warm? cold? I don't want to get on and be overdressed and hot for the entire trip and you can't get into your luggage in your car. Anyone remember if the train is overly hot or cold?

We took the Autotrain in April of 2011 when it was 90 degrees outside and again August of this year when it was in the high 90's outside. So we only dealt with A/C and it was a little on the cool side. Since they no longer provide a pillow and blanket without buying them, we went to Walmart and purchased a small pillow for $4 and a light throw for about $7 and that was perfect for the trip.
There are times when they will turn off the A/C and then it gets really hot. After boarding if you're in one of the cars that has to be backed out to be coupled, then you'll be without power for about 15 minutes. Also during an emergency, we were stopped once for four hours after our train hit two people on the tracks just an hour before arriving in Sanford. The train is great as long as nothing goes wrong.

You actually hit two people? Yikes.
That's good info for summer trips but I would like to know if anyone has taken it during the winter to know if they jack up the heat.
