The parent company of TGI Fridays recently announced that they are considering options for the restaurant chain. One such option is the sale of the chain which could bring a good return to Carlson, the owners of TGI Fridays. The comment that caught my attention from the company was:
"Fridays has slowly been refining its look in the past two years to bring it more up to date and to live up to its motto: “In here, it’s always Friday.”
Fridays also had become more family-oriented, and the refurbished look was intended to boost revenue by appealing to a younger, single clientele that tends to spend more money on drinks than on hamburgers.
Rautio said 63 Carlson-owned restaurants have gotten makeovers and that those locations are doing volumes that are about 10 percent above their competitors."
Wonder how that fits with the developer based conspiracy rumors I keep hearing?

I think a Hooter's or Winghouse would be a great addition to The Villages. Actually, they have really good food IMO!

I love Hooter's wings but I have heard a steakhouse is going in that location.

The reason is right there in the article: TGI Fridays is doing renovations to appeal to a younger crowd who like to drink. Of course they do. Selling drinks is ever so much more profitable than selling food.
Personally I think their food is abysmal. In several different Fridays I found the food to be inedible. The drinks are OK but I go out to eat, not just to drink.

the food was always excellent, a good value and prepared well. i only ever drank beer there and it was cold and priced fairly.

Source: people getting the space
Type:steakhouse, not a chain
Assured it will be nice but affordable; owners have several locations in the area of different types
Timeframe: January/February
Can't wait!

have never set foot in a hooter's, and do not intend to. the name itself is offensive.
