I stand accused of orphan posting and I plead GUILTY. I was thinking some of you might not have ever had an orphan post removed, so I can show you how to not break the rules up front.
The urge to orphan post is kind of like showing up on here with attention deficit disorder. I am a repeat offender, but how boring to stay on one subject?
So if you are bouncing a topic off the wall, you might get deleted. Like say if you are advertising a picture for sale and I reply: oh, look at this great oil done by a friend of mine in Gainesville....
that's how you orphan post...it's really normal communication. isn't it?

I think you are confusing hijacking a thread with orphan posts.
When you don't stay on topic, it's hijacking and the moderator will advise everyone to please stay on topic.
If someone writes a nasty comment and the moderator deletes the post, all posts that were in response are now "orphans" since the original post is gone.
So if you quoted it or responded to it, your post will be deleted as an orphan post.
